2nd gear dump. Get the wheel speed way up there for a good, solid burnout.

At the track, drive around the waterbox if you're running street radials up front.
Back up through it. Roll out of it. Get the rpm's up to about 5,000. Dump the clutch
and apply the brake enough to keep from rolling, while keeping the rpms up to create
plenty of wheels speed & tire smoke. Just flip on the line lock if you've got one
and do the same thing. Big smokey burnouts are for John Force and aren't really
necessary. Get 'em nice and hot until you see white smoke for a few seconds.
Don't do a dry hop afterwards.

Hope that helps.

after you do the burnout, ignore the idiot lights that appear on your insturment cluster. they will go away after you shut the car off and turn it back on provided you didnt **** anything up.

side stepping is just a term used to describe the way u let off the clutch. instead of lifting your foot straight up off the clutch u slip off the left side of the clutch like your stomping on the floor. it lets the clutch engage immediately instead of letting it slip a little.

Unless you have drag slicks and are at the track I just don't get why people want to do burnouts with street tires. I see $$$ whenever I see some kid doing a burnout in a parking lot, red light whatever. No wonder I read that some folks here are only getting 3-4k miles from a set of tires...

I have actually noticed a .4 second drop in time from when I did no burnout at all and then used the linelock and did a descent burnout on street tires.

Best/safest way to do a burnout is to just get a linelock, makes things so much easier.

Ok guys, you're gonna have to bear with me here, i'm a total f*ckin idiot when it comes to doing these. I just trying doing a couple before and fucked it up bad. The first time i revved to about 2500, quick let off of the clutch pedal and hit the brake while gassing it. The whole car just jerked when i let off the pedal and i almost stalled. The second time I revved to 2500, slowly let off the clutch pedal while giving more gas until the tires started to spin. Then I quick hit the brake pedal, the engine kept revving but the tires stopped spinning, and I stalled out. How exactly are you supposed to do it and what is this line lock thing? How do you do one without having to buy extra stuff?

well yea your NOT suppost to heat up street tires, burn outs are just for fun with them, if your at the track with street tires you wanna avoid the watter box, and once your past the water box, spin the tires once or twice to get any dirt or rocks off of them your not suppost to roast them, not DR's are a different story

Drop the clutch at 3000RPMs, that'll get them spinning They should go up in smoke, and you shouldnt really go anywhere, then slowly apply pressure to the brake, just enough to no move (not like your comming to a stop).
If your scared/nervous then just do it in the rain or on wet pavement, it will be a lot easier.
