Well, if GM hadnt discontinued the F-bod, the cobra still would have been faster than the camaro in 03 and 04. Its funny if you think about it, the roles would have been reversed in 05 as the LS2 would have been in the F-body and the cobra ceased production. As far as GM ever supercharging a V8, I'll believe it when I see it. Mod for mod, its just my opinion that the LS2 is a better way to go. At any rate, it will be nice to see GM and Ford competing head to head and year for year again with the LSX powered Camaro vs the 5.4 supercharged Mustang. It'll be interesting for shure!

^^You can't really say that because we don't know if GM would have stuck with the ls1 for f-bodies or if they would have upgraded the engine...ls6 maybe...

Either way, they'd have to change the configuration to run boost...
which wouldn't be hard. No way GM would be dumb enough to bolt
a blower to a high compression motor with bullshit internals. The
first thing everyone does is crank up the boost!

Personally, I don't think there is a need for GM to produce
a factory blown car. The high compression, big cube, LSx motors
are extremely potent as is. They've found a winning combination.
Why would they change it?

How come I got quoted for your response? I didn't say anything about FI on a gm...
My only point was that you can't say the Cobra would have been faster than f-bodies in 03/04 (stock) because we don't know what engine the 03/04 f-bodies would have got. Yes, most likely gm would have stuck with the ls1, but they just as easily could have upgraded to compete with the cobra...

I'd bet they would have put the LS2 in it because they did that with the GTO, LS1 04 vs LS2 05.

The LSX motor, as stated, is potent as hell, knocks back GREAT MILEAGE, is VERY RESPONSIVE to mods, and forced induction is just more complicated and has more room for mistakes and problems. Why fix what ain't broke?

I love the Cobra's but I think My SS Camaro has a better platform to start with and more potential in the long run. The ergonomics, The Camaro Is lighter, (3400lbs for mine) is better designed for drag, and I can always put in a high compression big inch 400 plus motor with a big shot.

Do I see a candidate for the South Beach diet, or is your car a caprice wagon with a body kit?

...or did you suffer fat-finger syndrome when tying that, lol

Yea, I agree, and if that happened 03/04 cobra's and 03/04 f-bodies would be on a level playing field stock for stock....except for that fact that the cobra will pick up more hp through the first few mods (pulley, intake, exhaust)

Never heard of the Cadillac XLR-V have you? Supercharged Northstar 4.4L V-8?

Most notable is the Northstar 4.4-liter, 32-valve, dual overhead cam, supercharged V8 pushing 443 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 414 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,900 rpm. A six-speed automatic with a manual mode is the only available transmission. Compare that powertrain to the regular XLR’s 4.6-liter Northstar V8, good for 320 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft. of torque using a five-speed automatic to deliver power to the rear wheels. Along with the extra power, the XLR-V brings about 150 pounds of added curb weight to the table.

$100/month is fair IMO.
My '06 Dakota is $85/month. Another $15 for a Cobra seems reasonable.

BTW...I paid much more in insurance for my '00 Z28.
