Default Auto or Manual? Which is faster?

I know this is a heavily debated topic, but I want to see some opinions... If you had a good amount of money to put into either tranny (gears, proper tuning, stall, etc.) which would be faster? 6-speed manual, or 4 speed auto? I am basically asking which be faster in the 1/4 mile....I know there might not be a right answer to this question, but I still want to see some opinions...

in a 1/4 mile its almost always gonna be the Auto when you got like 500 plus HP.

+1 for the AutomaticFastic

But everyone is going to have their opinion. For stock it would more than lickly be the standard of course.

Not again . All things being equal, the M6 should be faster due to less drivetrain loss. That being said, it's the auto's that are usually the fastest cars out there.

You will get off the line more consistently with a auto and normally cut a better 60 ft. normally equaling a better time. however this is just general statement and for every fast auto there are few m6's that are just as fast. also realize that the driver makes the difference

I once heard it as such... when you get into 500+ horsepower, a torque converter will never slip. Hydrolics hold more pressure than metal on metal, so if you have the right stall, the Auto is the best.

said it right there.

And a properly set up automatic is faster than manual 100% of the time. That is a fact, not an opinion.
