You may think it's tight now, but the SFCs would likely surprise you.

And again, the lid has no downside. No reduction in MPG, no reduction in driveability, very cheap to buy. Just a little gain in sound and power.

PS.

I put SFCs on my Trans Am when it was only 6 months old with about 1000 miles on it, and still the differnece was VERY noticeable. I used boxed 3-point SFCs on both that car and my current Z28.

They soften re-sale or trade-in by an even greater margin I assure you. The lid, I might do that...but something IRREVERSABLE, I dont plan on. With my 5.0, it was built to the MAXX and I had NO PLANS of re-sale. This car, I got in it right and I want to get out of it right, if I need to.

How so? Most people probably wouldn't even notice SFCs on one of these cars. They look close enough to being a stock part that someone who doesn't know what they're looking for would not realize it is aftermarket. And I don't see a lid being a big deal-buster either if I was looking for a car. Again, someone not familiar with these cars and their aftermarket probably wouldn't realize it was added on either.

And remember, the SLP lid could be had as a dealer option.

SLP lid was a dealer option on the 01 WS6 car?

(would they "tune" it for the lid b/c it alters A/F (according to before/after dynos I have seen) or not?)

No they don't, and who said it was irreversable? Get the bolt-on type like I did. The way the SLP SFCs bolt on, the car actually feels stiffer afterwards than the weld-on 2-point tubular set I had 4 F-bodies ago.

No, the SLP "Blackwing" lid was a Y2Y SLP option on Firehawk and SS cars, not WS6. And this is NOT the same lid that SLP sells aftermarket.

The only way now is to get one used. SLP was selling them aftermarket for a short while, but no longer. They were VERY expensive because they are made from the same plastic that the stock lid is, making them more durable and a better fit.

I'd say it's superior in construction, but not power. The aftermarket lids will likely make a tad more power due to the round neck into the TB (Blackwing is more oval like the stock air lid neck).

I'll be honest bud, I'm not really sure what I think of SFC's. I bought a pair of the weld-in ones about a year ago and had them installed and I really cannot feel a difference in the way the car rides. I'm sure that they do help in some way, but I really just can't feel a difference.

I'm guessing these were the 2-point type? That's the same thing I noticed with the first set of SFCs I had. Not much difference. But if you go with a 3-point setup like SLP I'll bet you notice something. Personally I prefer to go bolt-in. For the ultimate bond, I'd suggest getting the bolt-in units and weld them in addition to bolting them in. The bond will be stronger than just the weld alone. Eventually I plan to weld mine as well.

In the mustang world we dont even consider bolt-ons unless you are welding later. My last F-body had 170K miles on it and was just fine. I will stay w/o them.

Called a salvage owner's son (ADESA auction) and am trying to get a totalled SS's blackwing.

All depends on how they bolt in. Some are weak designs, some are not. Of course welding is just an added bouns, but either way they are a great investment in my experiance for the F-body. I have no clue what the deal is with Mustang SFCs though, I've never owned one.

Good luck finding the Blackwing. They only came on a few SS cars as an extra Y2Y option. Most SSs won't have that lid.

I am determined to get one and I shall have one (not at a STOOPID price though).
