The car goes into storage for the winter every year at end of October/start of November. It doesn't come back out till late March/early April.

That's life in northern IL if you want to avoid road salt. Granted, this winter has been easy though, I probably could have driven it a couple times over the last couple months, but often the roads around here are salt covered for the whole damn winter season.

The reason I mention it is that SOME! LS1's are PIG RICH OEM (12.0:1) and some are DEAD on (13.0:1). Every lid-only before/after dyno I have seen leans things down by .3-.5 on average. I simply worry that 13.5 (worst case) is a bit lean. Am I wrong to think this?

Most stock LS1s are in the high 11 range at WOT stock (11.7ish) from what I've seen. The stock tune is very safe.

Anything else?I dont like it right now but when I get it back I am sure I will coo over it like it was my firstborn child and want to detail it. Where do I find this plastic polish? Is silver polish good or not? I used that on my 5.0 and it got rid of some yellowing on the headlights.

I haven't seen very many detailed pics of your car so I can't say for sure, but other areas that usually need attention to look perfect on cars with your sort of mileage are the following:

- Plastic cowl panel (where the wiper blades are). Usually this peice of plastic tends to be neglected. It will fade over time and start to turn grayish if not properly treated. You might not even realize just how faded it is until you see one that's properly kept.

- Rubber trim around the T-tops. Not the weatherstripping that seals the tops, but the exterior rubber trim (frame) around the glass. It tends to fade over time if not treated.

- Window trim. This includes the trim around the windshield, hatch glass, and the exterior portion of the door window sweeps. These are all a flexible plastic/rubber like material and they can and do dry out and fade over time.

- Weather stripping around the doors. This is also exposed to sun and fading/drying. It will start to harden and turn grayish over time if not treated properly.

For all of the above, you can use any number of products that are designed to treat interior or exterior plastic and rubber trim, to both restore the finish and prevent any further deterioration. Personally I use an STP product call "son-of-a-gun". It's nothing new or expensive, so most people just pass it by on the shelf, but I've found that it works better than anything else I've tried for plastic trim. Lasts a long time too.

Other stuff off the top of my head:

- Windshield wiper arms. People neglect the hell out of these things. They are almost ALWAYS faded. GM does not clearcoat these peices (it's just black paint on metal), so if you don't keep them waxed, they will fade pretty quickly and eventually start to peal. Some good wax will do wonders on these, unless they are already past the point of no return. Then you'd need to repaint them for premium shine. I'd have to see these in person to judge their condition and recommend a course of action.

- Wheel wells (front). The fronts are mostly plastic, and that plastic gets stained and dried out over time unless you keep them treated. They probably need a very good cleaning with some strong soap and a light brush. Afterward, I'd keep them treated with that same "son-of-a-gun" product to restore shine and full blackness, and protect for the future. Reapply every time you wax the car.

- Wheel wells (rear). The rears are sprayed with rubberized undercoating from the factory. But the factory stuff isn't exactly the best or the blackest. I'd give them a really good cleaning and use a wire brush to remove any loose peices, then re-undercoat with some 3M Professional Rubberized Undercoating. This will give it a much deeper black look.

What you want to do with ALL the plastic lenses around the car is the following:

Thats because it just turned 2006. So that means that you can only drive it about 3000 miles for this whole year, just to keep it where it is suppose to be.

Nope. Neglecting it would be to subject it to harsh winter road salt. But I guess people from the south wouldn't know anything about road salt. You're lucky.

Yea i got my 98 z28 in 2003 with 28K miles on it and it was only a summer drievn car, most on weekends (knew the original and only owner). I then had it and only drove it during the summer, mostly on the weekends, and when I finally sold it I had about 50K miles on it.
