Spent the weekend getting a few things done on my Firebird for this spring. Finally installed my Chris Alston Chassisworks torque arm after having it for like 8 months, lol. While I was under there, my son helped me install some Bilstein HD's and we did the heater hose mod on the rear springs. Next up my gf and I reinstalled the interior after the torque arm install, then she assisted me installing the Harlan shift light she bought me for Xmas. Today I got around to installing the white faced gauges she got me for Xmas as well. They're only $32 on ebay but man, they look GOOD. Easy install as well. Soon I'll be ordering an LS6 intake and Pacesetter LTs/ORY to round out the mods I am doing before spring. Check out the pics( I know my pinion is leaking, lol):

i know this is a stupid newb question, but i was told if you don't know, you ask....what is the heater hose mod on the springs?

 

You jack up the car, set the frame on jackstands, take out the bottom two shock bolts while supporting the rear axle on the jack, then lower the jack and pop the rear coil springs out. There's a rubber donut type isolator on top of each spring. Remove it, and in it's place slide a length of 1/2" heater hose over the spring and slide it back in. It should lower the car 1/2" - 3/4" I have yet to get pics because I am waiting for the car to settle a bit. And trust me, if I could have got her out there in this weather in her lingerie, I would have, lol. Even with the heat out there, it only gets up to around 50 in the garage.

 

i would like to see pictures of how the car sits now too....did you just do the heater hose mod on the rear or did you use koni sa's on the front too? If you just did the rear, does it sit lower than the front or is it level? thanks and sorry for so many questions.

lol... look closer - it already has boxed LCA's and relocation brackets. The entire rear suspension is aftermarket now. I tried to get pics of the stance last night, but it was hard to get a good pic in my shop. I'll try to get one today. As far as I can tell, it's made the gaps between the front and rear wheels the same, which was what I was hoping for. I really don't think I could lower it in the front with the offset my wheels have anyway. I also took the time to do the wire mod last night which cleaned up the engine bay a bit.

Yeah, it's stock in front, heater hose mod in back. I just went and measured and there's a 3" gap in front and back, so it sits level now. I'd go a bit lower if I could, but I'm worried about fender contact with my wheels. I also race this car a lot, so having it a little taller for weight transfer will help.

 

Nice Formulation, good work, that thing is gonna launch a **** load better!

I vote we start a fund to buy you one of those torpedo type heaters that run on butane so this won' t happen again.

 

lol... I have 2 150,000 BTU Kerosene ones, a 110,000 BTU Kerosene one and a 150,000 BTU Propane one. Plus the shop furnace. I could make it warmer, but kerosene isn't cheap!

 

Ok, then we can start a kerosene fund for you! We gotta do something, there are a lot of single guys here, and your girl is SMOKIN!
