I agree the low end on those cobra is crazy and because it’s a roots style there is more than enough torque down low. I just do a simple math trick that seems to work out on stockish supercharged cars. An engine makes so much hp & tq per liter and what I have seen works often not all the time is adding the liters of both the SC and the engine together and then multiplying that by the original hp to liter number. So 4.6 + 1.8 = 6.4. Now we'll say an N/A cobra will make about 295-300 fwhp so that divided by 4.6 is roughly 65 hp per liter. Now multiply it 6.4 X 65 = 416 about the fwhp of a SC cobra. So for those who have told me the cobra doesn't make low end just think of it as a 6.4 liter than think about how much torque it makes.

what track?, did you have DR's ?, do you go to the FME events at Milan?? (assuming you live close because of the livernois stuff in your sig )

Pull it off and you have a mach 1 that will hang with F-bodies all day in the 1/4.

Bone stock = no drag radials. Yes, it was at Milan. No point in me going anymore
really. I only get one pass in and then I get the boot. I won't install a cage
since it's a street car. I have some mod plans in the works so I'm sure I'll
want to know what it can do at the track. I'll just keep getting booted.

damn it your car was freaking fast.

i went to some of the FME events last year, and saw those times out of stock cobras. (not really stock, but at least with a CAI, can't find a damn stock cobra now days ), but they were all running ET streets, although, they were trapping at 108-110mph. i went 12.9@109.8mph, 1.94 60 with LT's,muffler, cai and DR's. yeah, i suck at driving. i was racing against an 03 Cobra with CB,CAI and 295 BFG KDWS (not DR's), his best was 13.01@109.xmph with stock pulley, switched to a 2.93 pulley and went 12.6@113mph. again, those are the ones i've seen on this type of events where a bunch of them would go and race.
temp wasn't ideal though, so i think there was more in any of our cars. i felt weird to see so many terminators around my goat

IMO, the GTO wins in many categories. I'm just not a fan of the styling.

True no more iron block or IRS a higher compression and better suspension setup for drag. But the point is 4.6 can be strong without a blower

I'm sure you car is quick after all its an LS1 probally alot faster than my mach (catback only) but I know there are plenty of bolton Mach 1's who can truthfully say the same thing about LS1 F-Bodies.

Im just pointing out that the track is a completely different scenario then racing on the highway/street. IMHO the GTO is a more "trackable" car dispite the tire limitations it has. Not to say that cobras arent fast down the track, ive seen plenty go REALLY fast on stock motors even, but it takes a GOOD driver to make them go really fast. MOST of the boosted GTO's out there are Automatics which have the advantage running down the track, especially with an STS kit or twin turboed. Im talkin strong consistant 9-10 second cars. just what i observed. from what ive seen at atco not just anyone can hop in a cobra and run its potential. one example my buddy has the world record C5 time in a 6 speed car of 12.66, his corba which made 427hp with an intake and catback couldnt break 12.7. Im honsetly not downing the Cobra i love the car just my observation

really depends on the driver, I pulled off a 12.4@113 w/ 1.80 60ft on my first run, mods being a cold air intake and no cats... thats it (have seen guys run 11.9X's with same mods)! Second run I trashed my halfshaft so I have not had anymore passes. The GTO has the grunt and they need their respect because they are strong cars but I just am not down with the looks of the car to be called a "gto"

hit it on the head! The Cobras are not the easiest to drive with the IRS but they ride and handle great with it. If you drag a lot you need to upgrade the IRS or do a solid rear swap.

cobra hands down. Amazing power, big brakes, great handling, and look sick. The GTO is a great car but is out of it's league in this comparison. The way I'll some this up is, I'd be more confident at drag, auto x, road race, on the highway, and with my masculinity in a cobra.

ha i dont see what masculinity has to do with driving a GTO, the car has clean european styling with a pontiac front end. the Monaro looks alot better without the pontiac kidney grills but other than that the car is beautiful

I am not a Ford guy by any means. But between the two choices, I would have to take the S/C cobra since I have raced several GTO's and was disappointed in the way they performed with their advertised 400hp.
