Just because a car sits a lot does not mean that the owner is unsure of how to perform proper maintenance. Not sure what would give you that idea. My Camaro has less miles for it's age than about 95% of the cars on this site. In my case, I'm far better about keeping on top of maintenance than most people are with their daily drivers. If you saw my maintenance routine you'd think I was crazy for being so ****.
There is a big difference in driving your car every once in a while, and driving it so seldom that you forget what the gauge cluster looks like...

i had a 1994 w/ 145k and a 2002 with 100k... do you think i managed to perform maintenance on those cars but at the same time was too retarded to figure out how to change the oil on my 2000 w/40k?
That's not what I'm saying... What I meant was it is a waste to have THAT few miles on a car. 40,000 miles means you want to save it for sunny days and weekends and stuff like that...Cool. Preserve it.
Owning that car for that long and only putting 1,000 miles on it just makes it look like you are afraid to touch the damn thing... Still a nice car, though.

Gorgeous car! I can't believe people are in here bashing collectors. People enjoy their car in different ways. If having a 1,000 mile F-body that looks good in the garage makes him happy, then who are you guys to say that's not how he should be using it?

That is one bad piece of work... The only thing i can say is the person who buys the car from you may be in for a world of trouble. It will have low miles, but think of all the small peices noboy thinks about that are drying out, and not being used. I understand the madness in trying to keep miles off the car id love to be able to do that but its not possible. When i got my 89 it had 88,000 miles or so and that was in 04... that to me was a low mile 3rd gen but damn that car had some issues, and most of them were from the owner not driving the car... Props to your dad for fighting the urge.. the urge not to smoke tires whenever i want, and hear true muscle everyday is to great for me...

A limited use/ultra low mileage car that is properly maintained shouldn't have any more issues (likely less) than a high mileage car of the same age.
The key is proper maintenance though, and driving it on nice occasions. If the gas is 6 years old and the oil is original, then yes you'll be in for some troubles.
