Something is definately up..could be a Tune issue. Possibly could be getting a False Knock as it goes up in RPM's.

Gears have been in. Don't need to assume, I have proven it by clocking my rpm in 4th at 80 mph and looking it up on one of those charts.

It would be nice to have some datalogging software to see if, where, and by how much this thing is knocking. Oh well, all I have is OBD1 tuning software.

Woke up this morning to do a compression check, and decided against it after I reached in there (with gloves) to take the no 1 plug off with engine hot. Decided I'd rather keep the hair on my arms and have someone else do it (this ain't no Gen 1 SBC). My padnuh buddy is going to charge me 200 to do compr check on Tuesday. Maybe that will tell me something (like a bent exhaust valve-car does backfire out exhaust from time to time) or bent push rod.

What's the on milage on the car??? Valvetrain/clutch/or you need a tune(not a tune up) pretty damn bad. You should be close to see level, but should be running high 13's worst case scenario even if it's a million degrees outside. Does it already have a handheld tune in the PCM? That would explain alot.

A bent push rod is easy to check for, pull the valve covers and tug on the rocker arms, any slight give or diviation is a dead giveaway. /\ A hypercrap tune would also explain it. Maybe take it in for a stock tune.

68K miles... I've been wanting to take it in to dealer to have it reflashed. Will wait to see after i get compression results. It could be anything. The thing idles smoothly but there is a random hesitation and vibration from time to time (I wonder if other LS1's idle any smoother). Could be detonation, but only reason I could think of this at idle would be a valvetrain issue.

if its vibrating at idle thats could be your problem, since your 60' is normal-ish and you say your stayin on it hard, your problems may be up top.....

go to the Seafoam sticky in general maintenance and Seafoam that bitch.... maybe shes all gunked up? I haven't seen anybody else recommend this yet. Its cheap and doesn't take long and for some makes a HUGE difference depending on how the car was maintained.

My SS doesn't have a Lid and has the base SLP exhaust, 0 SLP options, just a short stick and it ran 13.5x @ 104.

have u ever considered letting someone else drive it and see if there is a difference?

I've seafoamed three times (once thru tank and twice thru brake booster). I drive harder than the other amateurs at the track. In fact, I launch at 2300 when most of them are launching from a dead idle. Don't trust anyone else to drive my car. When I launch from an idle, I run a 14.3.

68k, not to shabby. Pretty low miles. Since it's had a gear change, does it still have the stock diff??? If it's aftermarket, could be the clutches. You're not throwing any codes, so I won't think it will be anything rotating under the hood unless maybe a bent pushrod, but you still wouldn't run that bad. I don't want to get down on ya, but on my first run ever with my TA I missed 3rd really bad and still ran a 14.1@99(was a little nervous). Your TA has more power than that. Something is definitely wrong

I wouldn't go with a compression check, yet. This car is obviously making power, however it isn't living up to its potential. This really sounds like a tuning issue. If you're going to fork out hundreds, take it to a speed shop, hook it up to a dyno and see what they say. Damn it, now I'm curious to see what my bird can do...

Reason I ask is I took my WS6 to track for 1st time recently. Below is my time slip. I hooked up well on the below run w/ M6. Car has 65K miles and is near stock. Either I'm doing something wrong or my car sux.

60' 2.24
1/8 9.527 at 74 mph
1/4 14.693 at 96 mph
Were you driving against F5 hurricane winds?

Default comp check

Brought to mechanic for compression check. He tells me all cylinders are at 145 except no 3 which is at 150. I can't seem to find any compression no's for LS1. This seems low to me, but atleast they are all in line. Any thoughts?
