How many of you guys drive your F or Y body every day? I found a nice 2002 Z28 for a good deal ( 22k miles ) and am thinking of making it my DD for the summer / fall. Then get a beater 4cyl for the winter.

I do.
I don't drive it in the winter anymore, but I have done that too, it just hurt my heart to see my baby covered in salt that first time, so that was the end of winter driving for the formy.
I don't find it a problem at all to drive every day, it might not be the most comfortable if you drive on bumpy roads, but I dont have a problem with it. It is a fun car to drive every day in the good months.

Currently my SS is a 100% DD. Here in Alabama it only snows once every five years and even then they rarely salt the roads so winter isn't an issue.
As soon as I can afford one, I'm going to buy a beater. I bought this car with 24,000mi on the clock in april and am already at 31,000mi .

I like your idea of good weather daily driving. Before my current ride I drove my '96 Formula daily in FL. I doubt I would have driven it in the snow or salty road conditions. I loved driving it every day, never an issue. Go for it!

I drive it everywhere everyday, that's what it's for. I would like to have another car for that duty especially since my kids are now young teens and don't really fit in the back seats anymore.

I daily drive mine in the summer, mainly because the A/C and overdrive in my '94 S10 Blazer are not working. Once I get that fixed I'll probably be in the Blazer more often than not - too many fools on the road in their giant SUV's around here, and being low to the ground means I almost get hit at least twice a week.

The only days I drive mine is on sunny days from May 1st to mid October. I drive my daily driver beater to work every day though. So she is laid up from mid oct till may, the conditions are too harsh up here in the winter and the roads suck until May 1st with all the road grime. I love driving my Park Avenue and then jumping in the TA. Its like buying a new car after I drive the POS.

That was the only good thing about garaging the Z for the winter in Michigan - going from an '88 S10 Blazer with 225K miles that was literally falling apart to the Z was like Christmas in May.

I drive my z28 everyday. I go about 90 miles a day roundtrip, so im stackin the miles on it. I was drivin my T/a here and there but the tranny is gonna go wamo and i dont want it to be on the freeway. I was dd that one but got rearended plus its old, had to get the z28 as a better commuter. Makes the miles on the freeway better when you think everyone wants to race, also gets you places faster to...

I used to DD mine as well..until the Cam went it then it wasn't cost effective.
I've got a beater that gets 35 MPG and the Z only gets 15 MPG on the highway.
I drive it as my fun car, rain or shine on Saturday tho.

Hate to say this, but my SS vert is my back up daily for my motorcycle...so if it's raining, the SS gets wet. I hate to do that to it, but I will always opt for the bike if the weather's half-way decent.
Now, that doesn't mean I won't sometimes drive the SS to work on a nice day. I'm only 15 minutes away so it's painfully short but still always fun.
And on the weekends, the wife and I love to take it places w/ the top down.
I say we drive 'em all we can - as someone said earlier that's what they're for.

The beauty of living in Southern California is that everyday of the year is like Summer. The worst weather I've seen in 7 years living here is a 15 minute downpour. No hail, no snow.
DD 100% and no salt or gravel to worry about!
