How did you learn to drive a fast RWD car.
Whats the best way for someone who has minimum manual tranny experiance and zero experiance in a fast RWD car to learn to drive it and not crash? I herd they should bring it to a big empty parking lot and let it rip, so they can see how the car reacts / spins / kicks sideways etc etc... This way they will know what not to do on the roads.
A friend of mine wants to buy a 02 Z28 m6, but he is pretty newb to fast cars and manual trans.
What did you guys do to get used to the car.

I was 16....and my dad rented a Viper in Las Vegas, he took me to a huge empty parking lot and told me if I wanted to drive it, I needed to teach myself how. Needless to say, I learned pretty freakin quick, then we beat the hell out of that car all day long.

just go easy and get comfy in it, then when u have the no risk situations like a parkin lot or empty street, u push it a lil farther and see hwo it reacts, and if thats nothing, u push it harder next time, u just have to learn your limits, know what it can and cant do, what it will do in what situations

Don't screw around in traffic, trust me i almost crashed that way. Parking lot and a right foot work good. just drive it on the street for a while before he starts to screw around.

I beat the **** out of a piece of garbage '81 Mazda wagon. It pretty much taught me everything I needed to know about being a good driver.
Trust me, you can adapt to the new car fairly quickly, just be smart about it.

I actually think its more dangerous for someone to learn how to drive on a fast RWD auto. Those things will nab you quick if you give a lil to much gas accelerating through a turn and it decides to downshift and start spinnin. I have no probs with my SS. It sticks like glue most of the time. But my dads T-type has got me a couple times. And its a few tenths slower in the 1/4. All I know is I always look for the nearest curb when accelerating through a turn and keep my distance just in case. I think fast autos are fun to drive. My M6 is pretty predictable as I feel the autos are not. Of course I havent driven a fast auto for extended periods like most of you guys do.
