Ya i dont think so but still call a public servent in your city and see the rules are like can he just use his disgression or does he have to use a decibal meter.

Well you have LT's, no cats and no muffler..I'm gona say thats it's probably illegal to run that setup in your state. Would you pass state inspection with this current setup? Whats the legal decibal level in your town/state?

i bet the court costs to fight it would be more than the ticket itself

Doesn't matter. Both longtube headers AND running no cats is illegal in ALL states, regardless if you have emissions testing or not. They're both in violation of federal law.

I wouldnt fight it, its illegal to remove any emission control device on a car no matter where your at in the states. Plus running that setup lm1, headers, no cats i can see where that would be loud so its not like the cop was just being an ***.

That car would easily pass IL emissions, with proper PCM tuning. We have no sniffer, no visual, OBD scan only test.

But as stated above, that doesn't mean that the car is "legal", it's not, but yes it would pass just for referance.

Personally, $75 is nothing. The shoes I'm wearing right now cost more than that. It certainly wouldn't be worth my time to go to court for $75. IMO.

Yeah, it's illegal no matter what state you are in.

Even though i was pulled over for going 26 over with dual cutouts open (on an ORY).... he didn't say a word about the noise though. Let's just say i lucked out, hardcore.

BTW, i like your sig. Kate Beckinsale is one of the most beautiful girls alive.

its not worth 75 bucks to fight cause in the end, you may end up with more fees, court fees, lawyer stuff, if it went that far. just pay it and be on your way =D

I had a cop pull me over for my car being too loud. He was in the process of telling me how loud it was until 3 Harleys came rolling by. I looked at him and said" you're kidding right?" He told me to have a nice day...Our cars are no louder than a hawg....

But how true. Those cycles or those fart cans on the ricers can be louder/much more annoying than these cars done properly.

Take the $75 and put it towards cats otherwise you are going to pay $75 everytime that cop see you without them.

if you really dont want to pay you can do this...
take a pic of your car with its current exhaust, then go to a shop or get a friends car with stock or legal exhaust and take a picture of it. go to court and explain to the judge you put the stock or legal exhaust back on the car and ask him to drop the fine...it works

but hell you will make the 75 at work in the time you have to miss for court

Were you driving it in a civilized manner, or did the police officer catch you hammering it and/or doing something else to draw attention to yourself? It's all in how you drive it most of the time.

not sure about the laws in IL, but here in buff if you get a equip violation ticket, ie exhaust, tint, turn signals, light out, etc... you ahve 24 hours to fix it and bring it back, and the ticket is dropped with no fine.

i got pulled over when i have stock cats and manifolds with my loudmouth, got a ticket for loud exhaust, i stuffed a bunch of steel whool up in the exhaust, made it as quiet as stock i just couldnt drive more than like 30mph or it would shoot it all out...

when i went to court i just told them i "fixed" the exhaust. they dropped the ticket.. hell they didn't even check my car to see if it was fixed... i was actually kinda mad i spent the time to make it quiet and get the car their driving 30mph and they didn't even listen to it... but w/e. maybe that would work for you
