Yep, thats the key. Like I said my name is the primary driver on a 72 F150 and my Z is under my dad's name as like recreational/pleasure use which is fine as long as you don't drive a ton of miles every year which I don't.

i got my car when i was 18 a 98 z28, this was 2yrs ago, i couldnt aford full coverage they quoted me like 700 monthly so i did liability only and right now im paying 146 monthly, which isnt bad compared to what full is, ive been trying to get my dad to get me on his insurance but hes old school thinking and he thinks that if i crash it will be on his record, get this he put my younger sister on his and shes crashed 3 times already, so its just that he dosnt trust me and shes his favorite lol, so im assed out with liability insurace and shes on full coverage paying 75 monthly

Exactly my father has an SS my brother has a Z28 my other brother has a 92 RS all cars are listed as occasional driving just for fun and are names are primary on old cars like my new yorker that is the best way to do it.

That's not having the car insured in your name, though.

That's kinda like by buddy teling me his full coverage was only 500$/6 months.

'He neglected to mention his father paid for liability, his 500 was just for 500$ deductable comp/coll.

However, I got an allstate quote yesterday listing me as the primary driver for my Trans Am and my Jeep, and it came back for 575/ 6 moths.

(I am 21 with one police report accident, but no insurance claim filed )

If you want to lower your rates, and you are on your own policy, Buy a beater. It will half your rates if you have a good provider.

I've checked AllState, Geico, USAA, State Farm(used to use them) for our 1 vehicle ATM, and checked it with a TA I'm probably buying, and full coverage on 06 Equinox and 97 TA is less than $100 a month with 250 deductibles with Progressive. The other places wanted well over $100 a month just for the Equinox. I'm 25 almost 26, no tickets and married, so that probably helps.... Just have to find whats good for you...

some parents wont let you get on the policy because if you screw up they pay for it in the end.

My name is on the car. If you can save money by doing it on the parents then thats the best thing to do, which is why I am. But my name is on the t/a if it wasnt they wouldnt let me drive it. I have full coverage and pay for all of it. Part of the reason it is cheap is because it listed as a fun weekend car with low miles and its not driven through winter. So "driving insurance is off" just storage is on. So NO its not like your friend who lied to you. Mine is real with my name on the car and thats all I pay for FULL COVERAGE!!!

I dont know man, I have state farm and I only pay about 166.00 a month and im 19. Im on my parents policy, with me listed as the primary driver. It has full coverage as well. I also have no accidents or tickets on my record. The good grades and multi car discount help out quite a bit.

The fact that it can't be driven year round is a factor someone from central Alabama would forget, too.

wish I could drive it all year but we get too much snow and the car is never going to be seeing the powder unless I really really really need it.

depends on where you live. John Boy in the countryside will always get better rates than someone living in a big city. registering and getting ins. under your parent's name is the best option.
