Camaro insurance for a 19year old.
Does anyone know of a insurance company that wont make me starve because i own a camaro or am i just out of luck? Im 19 years old and have had Farmers ins. for 3 and a half years now, no accidents, tickets nothing. But when i go to get a quote from them for a 01 camaro ss they tell me it will be $475- a month! Does anyone know of any insurance company that isnt so expensive? i know im young and that it will be relatively expensive but 475! please, if anyone has any info on this let me know. Thanks

Well... I'm 18 and in Canada, and also have no tickets etc. I got quoted (by State Farm) as $770 for 6 months for a 1996 Trans Am. This is fairly low, as (although it would be my plan), my parents have been with them forever, so I suppose I would get some break somehow.
I called pretty much every insurance company around where I live...one company, quoted me $8000 (NOT A TYPO) for 6 months - I always thought people were kidding when they said "insurance companies laugh at you on the phone" - they're not.
I guess you just have to look around. Have you gotten a quote from the company your parents are with?

Try progressive, my two brothers have it and their rates are pretty good (were better for my brothers than geico was).
I'm still on my parents' policy with Erie insurance because the cost isn't bad at all for that and it is easier while I'm in college. I'll get my own policy once I'm out of school (probably with Progressive as well).

Tough luck there, I was in the same boat when I got my T/A at 17...They quoted me at around 3600 for 6 months...My agent suggested that my parents get it under their name under another policy. Technically I dont think thats legal, but a cop even told me thats what he did when his son first started driving....I just bought a truck and my insurance agent (different one now) told me they were goign to switch the "under 25" premium to that truck so it actually saved me money by having 2 cars on my policy now. She said only one car has to have the "under 25" premium (but I only think that works if you have more cars than drivers)
Good luck
Just keep thinking about when you turn 25!

surprisingly enough.....Allstate is extremly cheap. i have been with progressive, and with esurance. those were both good. but i dont like progressive customer service. Allstate has been awesome for me the past year. they havent raised my rates, every 6 months they call me before my renewal and go through my policy to see if there are any changes we can make to get the lowest rate possible. i have been really blown away by them. i always thought they were more expensive but i have found them to be alot cheaper than everyone else. i am 24, i have full coverage on my 01 trans am and i pay 135 a month. i have a couple tickets and a small accident on my record.

Buy the cheapest car you can find and put it on your insurance. Tell them its your daily driver and the camaro is your sunday driver. I have an 85 C-10 pickup that has 120k on it. I bought it for $900. My insuranse is $140 a month for full coverage on my 02 z and base on my c-10 plus my wife is on the same plan with her 91 1500 truck. I am 24 and she is 29. I asked what it would be if I dropped the c-10 and they said 275. I have Gieco

I'm also 19, and I suggest going with your parents. If you haven't bought the car yet, co-sign with your parent(s) for the loan so that their name will be on the title and insurance, even if you're paying for it. I'm doing just that for my 02 Z28... without my dad's name on the title, full 2-way coverage would have been $1600+ for 6 months with a $500 deductible. But since he's on the title, its about $540 for 6 months with a $250 deductible, full 2-way. I don't have any moving violations, all fix-it tickets from my previous car, and I'm actually with Farmers. My whole household is Farmer's, go with what your parents have and see what the agent can do.
Also try to get a 3.0+ GPA, most companies have a good student discount.

When I was 18 I bought my first camaro, the insurance was around 450 a month. I tried for 6 months to find it cheaper with no luck before I just gave up and sold the car. You may be SOL for now.
Look on the bright side though, 10 years later I only pay 50 a month for full coverage. Thats a lot of extra money for mods and such...

deductible as high as you can go, put low limits on it, and get it under ur parents name. I had a camaro at 17 and a mustang at 18, always under my parents name and insurance was dirt cheap

try gettin it under your parents. with my grand am i was under my parents policy, altough i was set as the primary driver. i added my 02 ws6, and with me as the primary driver my rate only went up about 41 dollars a month. i was pretty happy about that
