More important to GM: Camaro or Firebird?

Neither car will make GM any money, they stopped selling them for a reason. The new Malibu better sell or you won't have to worry about the Camaro or Firebird. I love my Camaro's and Firebird's but the question of importants to the company, is not very high. They make their money on the trucks and high volume cars. We love them but the higher majority of people don't give a crap about cars, let alone performance cars. I will vote for the Camaro. But 'birds are cooler, you see more Firebirds and Trans Am's and Pontiacs in movies that Camaro's, think about it.

Camaro.
It's not a matter of "which one is cooler" or "what's in more movies" or "which one is better made". Simply put, the Camaro sells a lot better than Firebirds.

Camaro for sure. If the Firebird was more important, they'd be coming out w/ the 5th generation... though i'm sure they will eventually just based off the 5th generation Camaro (though that's expected).

Camaro came out first. Camaro is coming out first again with no real announcement regarding the Firebird (cause that's what they all are whether Hawk and Trans-Am owners like to admit it or not) Camaro has always sold more (and wasn't always cheaper so that's not a valid reason). Don't know why, but the Camaro is where GM puts their faith, and the consumers backed it up. Maybe the presence of 1st gen retro feelings contributes to it, Firebirds don't have that to rely on

That's what I said back in '79 when gas prices spiked and availability was limited. The national speed limit was 55 mph. GM was selling beaucoup X-bodies (pieces of crap that they were). You couldn't give away the what are now the classic muscle cars from the late 60s and early 70s.
I was wrong.

I think camaros were more important, but I do like the look of 98-02 ws6 ta's and firehawks better than the camaros. However the 93-97 camaros look better that the birds. My opinions.. IBTL?

GM is in the business to make money (no surprise there right?). Even for previous gens, there are more GM-licensed restoration parts for the Camaro than the Firebird. Pontiac didn't get their 2-seater Banshee back in the 60's (styling later used on the Corvette), so they were given a platform that had already been designed by Chevrolet. Add on to that the fact that they had limited time to make it "Pontiac-like", and couldn't do much with the styling as a result of it being handed over so late. The Firebird has always been a different animal for GM. The Chevrolet brand has always been the bread and butter sales for GM, so obviously more Camaros are on the roads. The 70's did get the Firebird a boost thanks to Burt and his movies, but Camaro has always been on top the rest of the time.

i think that the camaros seem to have more popularity..but to me, I personally think the 98-02 ram air TA's are the baddest looking cars out there....It took me years to save money to finally buy one and right after i turned 19 i finally saved enough to be able to take a manageable loan out...i love my TA but i do think that if you have to choose btwn the two for the company, they would pick Camaro
