Between 12 and 14mpg round town, on high octane gas. Havn't done a long highway run since heads and cam, so not sure how good mileage I can get, probably 24mpg

i get 20.5 mpg wish it was more. the best was when i first got my car, 9-03, it was stock and my car club went cruising i'm sure i got 23/24. but that was the best, never reached since. i really doubt anyone gets over 26 with a v8. (even with a stick) just my 2 cents. my car club president drove his 2002 ss M6 to hot rod power tour and i rode along, we got 23 average hwy 75mph.

Those are some amazing numbers Brian. Where did you get your car tuned at. You seem to have one of the best all around street cars around.

26-28city, 32-35 hwy. Stock. Even with my mods i still get the same. Dont believe it, come over to the corvette forum and read through thousands of posts from diferent people that get the same.

i'm sorry but are you good at math, you take the number of miles and divide by the gallons it takes to fill the tank right? and you get over 30? wheres the BS flag when you need it.

Well I guess I must be stupid at math, cause there are so many of us that get that.

This I can believe.

BTW, when I've checked recently, I've filled up at a pump, jumped on the interstate, driven 50 miles, turned around, driven back to the gas station, and filled up at the same pump. Put it on auto-fill and stop after it clicks off automatically. miles traveled/gallons used = MPG

I too have often questioned the math behind the high mileage claims.

You have to take alot of variables into the equation. Simple math will not work. Look at the quality of the fuel, ammount of traffic, speed at which you are driving. Also add to that the ambient tempeture as well as altitude and tire size, gear ratios. Those alone take the math out of it. Those are just average MPG. I also only work 4 miles from my house and get to work at 430am. For others, mileage might not be as good. Mods that complement each other help also.

My 99 T/A got a best of 32-33mpg on some highway trips with mostly interstate driving. On average I got about 24-28mpg highway depending on how much I got on it, and the types of roads etc.. I got about 18-19 in the city, and about 23mpg mixed.

My 96 Z28 I have got a best of 29mpg on the highway, average about 23-27mpg on most highway trips, get about 17mpg in the city, and 21-22mpg mixed..I also have 3.73's in the Z28.

Having a 6speed makes a HUGE difference compared to you guys with Automatics...when I had my 94 Z28 with an auto, the best I would get on the highway was about 22-23mpg.

Also..My T/A had 30k miles on it, my 96 Z28 has 55k miles on it, and my 94 Z28 had about 52k miles on it when I had it.

Oh and for anyone questioning my math...Anyone with a grade school education can figure out how to calculate gas mileage, but just because you can't achieve the numbers some of us do, doesn't mean we don't get them..so believe what you want, but if you can't get 30mpg out of a stock 6spd LS1 car then the fuel you are using is possibly bad quality, you aren't driving as good as you can to get the best mileage, your car could use a tune-up and you could possibly be in hilly areas... I don't care if people beleive it or not, the fact is I have gotten what I have, I chek my mileage EVERY tank on every car I own and have owned since the day I started driving, and am happy that my car is capable of getting what it does.

I've checked mine under every variable but snow & ice, hurricanes, & tornados, and at the bottom of a lake. It doesn't matter. I've used oxygenated fuel and standard fuel. It doesn't matter.

Sorry, it's just extremely difficult for those of us maxing out at 23-24 under optimum conditions to believe the same basic engine in stock form or even bored and stroked or otherwise modded to well over 500 RWHP can squeeze out 30 MPG +/-.

If I had an LS1/LS6 getting over 30 MPG I'd be calling Ripley's Believe It Or Not!

Beleive what you want, I wish I could tell you what you could do to make yours get better mileage, but even the current owner of my previous T/A got 32mpg with it on a LONG road trip this summer..and he has every bolt-on on the car now...it just isn't that difficult if you drive REALLY good.

I guess some find it hard to beleive that we get that mileage, but personally I find it hard to beleive that people can't..these things were rated at 28mpg on the highway from the factory, and you can almost always get better than those ratings if you try. I just don't know what to tell you, but I'm not going to put all my effort in trying to convince people..it doesnt benefit me if someone beleives it or not, In the end I'll just continue to enjoy my good mileage I guess

I think a lot of it has to do with what people think is really good driving..on my trips of 32mpg they were about 300+ miles of the cruise control set at 70mph on the interstate which is like 1400-1500rpms on a stock geared car..never touching the brakes, never touching the gas..simply 70mph for 300miles straight. That was an extreme case obviously, this is why I said on average I got mid 20's on the highway, because it isn't often you are driving in those perfect conditions.

If you drive 75-80 mph your mileage is obviously going to decrease..so drive slower and save some gas..it is possible "Beleive it or Not"

I'm thinking I may have one of the lowest on here. My driving habits could be better but they are not terrible. I have to get gas tonight before my highway trip tomorrow. I am expecting around 10 at best.

Come to England you get more miles to the gallon.

The gallons over here are larger than US gallons. I once got 34mpg which works about about 28mpg (US gallons)

This is all pretty pointless. If there's a 30 MPG LS1/LS6 in the Cincinnati area, I'd like to see it for myself. We (I) fill it at the same pump and let it turn itself off before and after the run. I'll pay for the gas. You cannot coast or turn the engine off. You cannot pump the tires up or have skinnies or draft a truck or "cheat" in any way. If the car gets 30+MPG I pay you $100. If it gets less, you pay me $100.

11.9mpg city and around 28hwy. City really sucks up here. Its real city though, like a downtown, stoplights every 100ft or stop sign, etc. This is not getting on it at all either because you cant since its city!! So i don't get how you guys have way more mods and get much better mileage while putting your foot in it.

I get between 20-24 with a mix of highway and town and usually a heavy right foot. Thats with stock converter and 2.73's. Best I have gotten is 26 when it was stock and mostly highway miles on that tank.

wow. have you ever seen a million dollars in cash? i havent.. that doesnt mean it doesnt exist.

its not exactly hard to calculate gas mileage. especially the old miles traveled divided by gallons used.

so what. some cars get better gas mileage than you. sucks for you. dont call people liars because of it. maybe your driving jacks it up and ours helps it. i've had 2 fbodies and both got over 20 mpg on the highway. both heads/cam cars. camaro had 35k on it when i wrecked it... trans am has 30k miles on it, that may be a factor as well.

i know how to calculate gas mileage. i've owned a SHITTON of vehicles, and check the fuel mileage on every tank on every vehicle.

my buddies bolt on/blower c5 z06 got 26mpg on the highway, and that was calculated via the mathematical method, and by the old fashioned mileage traveled/gas used method. i dont think he ever saw higher than that. but he still had 570 rwhp.
