on my recent drive up to seattle i got 27.5 mpg in an auto. only "performance" mod is a CAI. usually in town i average about 21... unless it's winter... then it drops to about 16 or 17 - not really sure why, unless it's the cold dense air and it's getting more fuel mixed in... i don't know. i wish it wouldn't drop so much. (and yes, i have changed my fuel filter and spark plugs and wires within the last year)

I only check mileage when going on a road trip. Don't know what it does day-to-day. Last road trip was 150 miles up 2 lane Hwy 101 to Shelton, Wa to see Ron White last month. Returned 150 miles down I-5, and got 23 MPG for the trip. Driving how I want, which is with my feet, and with you in the rear view mirror. Engine is still basic stock.

Mpg???
100% of my driving is local roads & heavy traffic. Welcome to Honolulu.
Well I average 8.5 miles per gallon of Hawaii's best 91 octane, 10% ethanol gasoline. I'll have to say I have a heavy foot. There are a lot of turbo ricers here that are just lining up to be slain by my GTO.

I haven't had the pleasure of driving my car since I parked it fall of '06 because I'm deployed, but, I was getting 21-23 mpg avg. on a tank driving to and from work. It's mixed city and highway, but always during rush hour. I get that mileage without driving so nice. So, I don't think it's too bad.
Never really run it on a long road trip. I hope to when I get back. Oh, and it's a '00 M6 Z26, K&N, free ram air, TB bypass, P&P MAF, TR56 plugs, but otherwise stock.

I've checked mine under every variable but snow & ice, hurricanes, & tornados, and at the bottom of a lake. It doesn't matter. I've used oxygenated fuel and standard fuel. It doesn't matter.
Sorry, it's just extremely difficult for those of us maxing out at 23-24 under optimum conditions to believe the same basic engine in stock form or even bored and stroked or otherwise modded to well over 500 RWHP can squeeze out 30 MPG +/-.
If I had an LS1/LS6 getting over 30 MPG I'd be calling Ripley's Believe It Or Not!

When the car was new, hiway average way in th 27-28 range. I got 29-30 a few times on flat roads, no wind conditions. Now hiway average is about 22, but I think that may have something to do with the 10% ethanol mix fuels around here. Could also be the filthy air filter! :-)
Could also be time to replace the o2 sensors. They are original and the car has 170,000 miles on it now.
Overall average for mixed driving is 19-20, depending on circumstances. Obviously, when I'm out playing, the MPG goes down, but I've never checked it then so can't say how much.
