You could always set your numbers matching 14k mileage engine off to the side of the garage under cover and replace w/ another to mod. LS1's have gotten cheap...

I bought my car with 25k on it. I only wanted a cat back and it has kept rollin from there. Id say go for it. Just keep all of the original stuff. Thats what I do. And I rack up the most miles drivin it to the track every once in a while. Otherwise it just sits and goes 30 miles here and there.

Don't get a high mileage and expect it to last long with a new cam. Your internals will begin to wear and you will need to forge the internals very quickly. You may want to just keep her the way she is. Although you are on a MODIFICATION site afterall.

The car in my sig. is being modded. I had a big thread about in when i got it back in June. Everyone convinced me that you only live once so you might as well have your car just the way you want it. No sense in savin it for someone else while we jus keep getting older and older...

like the others said, mod it, and keep the stock parts so that if u you ever sell you can bring it back to stock. my dad bought his '01 cobra (hes still pissed that they added the s/c in 03) new off the floor and its only got 6k miles on it completely stock. ive been trying to get him to do minor mods to it, and keep the stock parts.

I have a lower mileage (for the year) LS1 car than yours. My '98 is at 14k miles, and is staying stock (other than lid/catback). My 72k mile '02 car will eventually wind up heavily modded.

If you choose your mods wisely (driveability) and don't be cheap when it comes to doing it right then I say mod away and enjoy the car even more. They're awesome from the factory but they only perform better and better.
