I bought my 2002 Z28 with 17K on it. Grandpa must have owed it because it was 100%stock down to the airfilter. I am doing some mods to mine. However Im keeping all the factory parts haha.
I SAY MOD IT.

keep it stock man, you will thank me later

if you do mod it just get some headers cutout and LS6 heads/cam and tune and you'll make ~380whp.
and it will drive smooth as stock..

Do what you want. I have done both bought modded cars and bought stock cars and modded them. I've been thinking of buying a low mile ls1 car and doing a 454 lsx for it. At least when you start with a nice stock car you know exactly whats been done to it. Where as starting with a modded or high mileage car you don't know what suprises you will find.

You will always loose more money on a modded car vs a stock car, but do you really want to drive a stock car??????? that's the question.

Currently I have a very modded 87 turbo buick and a stock Z06, but the only reason the Z06 is still stock is I'm not done dumping money into the buick.

Part of me hates to see such a sexy car modded but on the other hand a few little goodies wouldn't hurt her. I wouldn't do anything that can't be reversed and keep all your stock parts. Someday you'll be glad you did. Nice Car!

just put a nice lopey cam, exhaust, and some big tires on it so it sounds mean when you do drive it. possible some serious engine dress up for shows?

Doing some mods is not going to hurt anything.....Just keep it looking stock interior, and exterior. Put some nice long tubes and an ory with a good catback. That car has so much more to offer than just being stock. I had my WS6 about a month before I started with a few mods and I have never regretted it. (17K miles). Besides, they are not rare cars anyway. Keep all your stock stuff though.

I hate to sound blunt so please don't take this offensively. Although it is low milage, once it has another 20-25k on it, it will be like every other SS. It is a special edition, but not like back with the old muscle cars. There were tons of SS's made, so I say mod it, although if you want to go 10's I wouldn't do it if selling it as a collectors later is your goal.

Suppose someone does want to pay a good amount for it if you keep it low milage and clean. Even if you pulled the original motor, tranny, and rear, bought all new ones and beat on those. You will still have the burn marks in the metal from the cage and from you having to certify to run a 10 second pass, modification to the firewall and cowl perhaps too. If you keep this car go H/C on a 408 and be happy with a low 11 sec. car, or go forged 347 and boost and make tons of power and go 10's, but be weary that selling it to a collector, they may not be too happy seeing welds and scorch marks from a cage being put in and taken out.

Congrats on the new ride, basically a twin of my fully optioned '99 NBM SS with 12k miles. If your worried about value, just keep all the stock parts for it in the case that it ever goes up in value/you get rid of it. Im personally just doing little things to mine for now, and waiting to get a >20k mile Z06 to mod the hell out of come spring time. I work backwards of what most would do

I bought a 2000 firehawk with 27,000 miles in april. It has about 34,xxx on it now. Needless to say I have driven it alot. It's been my daily driver this year. I am going to start driving my old s10 blazer beater to keep the miles off of it.

I think if you mod it, just use quality parts and do it right. I didn't buy the car for it to sit in a garage and hope someday it may be worth more money. I bought it to do drive the **** out of it, and I do. But I also take good care of the car. My mods will be XS long tubes, LS6 intake, and maybe a cam. It already has a FTRA and SLP lid.

I am wanting to use the word "tasteful" mods. I keep thinking about all the white trashed out 3rd gens. Everyone has seen them. Hacked up exhaust, true duals hanging down on the ground, 275/60/15's out back on some mismatched cragers.

I hope some of this made sense.

I take no shame in the fact that my '98 car only sees about 500-600 miles per year of driving. It's cool to get into the car and feel like I'm driving a brand new F-body when I take it out.

For the rest of the time, I've got the '02 car to drive more regularly. Let me tell you, even when you take good care of a car, once they get some miles on them, you can feel the age compared to a low mileage car. My '02 has 72k miles, vs. my '98 with 14k miles. The '98 car jusr feels more fresh in every way. That's why it's great to have a low mileage garage queen for those "special occasions", and a higher mileage driver so you still get to enjoy the LS1 on a more regular basis.

I'm lucky my wife went for this car... A 2nd car would be "out of the question." HA.

I have had my '01 SS for a year and a half. It's a garage queen too, but it had a few mods when I bought it. I originally was going to do a cam only and leave it at that. I didn't think I would be able to stomach modding the hell out of such a pristine car. I thought about it some more though and for me it made sense to mod this car further becasue I knew I had a georgeous car that I make no excuses for. If I bought another car I probably would not have one as this one anyhow. So, with that said, I am tearing that car apart this winter to install a LSX 454 That should keep me satisfied for a while. The only problem is what will I do to the '99 next?

been in your shoes, it kinda sucks. my SS had 10k on it when I got it in 05. I didn't mod it besides an intake lid, nothing that would require cutting. If you mod it, do it right, make it clean, don't use cheap parts or a cheap exhaust job, etc. if you wanna crazy mod one though id take the money you could make off of that and buy a cheaper one and mods.

Cars are mean to be driven, but like some people said before, if you plan to sell it later on for a profit..
