Locked myself out of my car today
Yup I turned on the car to warm it up and closed the door......and the keys were still inside, I got the spare keyless remote and it wouldnt open.....car was still running so I called the insurance and he came and opened it.
Needless to say my car was just sitting in my drive way turned on for almost 30 minutes......im pretty embarrased.

The remote is disabled when the car is running huh? Didn't know that. Didn't you have a spare key to go with the spare remote? Maybe you should get a spare cut - wouldn't start the car without the chip but it would unlock the door.
Now the real question - why did you lock the doors before closing them?

I've done it a million times. I think Fbodies are one of the easiest cars to get your keys out of once you lock them in, haha. Locked my entire key ring with like 10 other keys on it inside of my old '96 V6 Camaro, they were in the middle cupholder. Pulled the entire set out of the window with a coat hanger after awhile.

you can normally bend the driver window out of the weatherstrip "SLOWLY AND GENTLY"..my buddy does it all the time with his and he never has any problems, we have big windows which allow easier flex since they dont have the door supports.

It still happens to me too.. Dont worry, Your not the only one . My 94 3.4L Camaro doesnt have power locks (but I do have an alarm system.. kinda weird, but it works though), and It becomes a habit for me to lock the door as soon as I get out of it. I'll usually start it about 5 mins before I have to leave so it will heat up.. Then sometimes lock the door as I get out (just because its a habit) and therefore lock myself out.
Luckily I have spare keys for all of my Camaros, so I can just go run in the house and grab the spares when needed.
My advise, Go to a dealership and have them make you a set of spare keys.

I take my door key off the key ring and put it in my pocket when I let my car warm up. It's a bit of a pain to take the key off and put it back on but it's better than being locked out or leaving the car running.
