Default Made in Mexico or China?????????

I was at the AutoZone today to get a heater core and the guy says he has one in stock. Well I asked if he had AC DELCO because I thought they carried that brand and he didnt. I have to have one and I say I'll take the one you got. He brings it out and it says in big letters MADE IN MEXICO. I say to the guy "Im not putting that crap in my car, Don't you have anything MADE IN THE USA" He said "NO" like what was I thinking. I told him "Im trying real hard to keep this import stuff off of my car". He goes on and tells me there is no way I could avoid it. He said my seats, carpet, and wiring harness was all a made somwhere other than here or Canada. I told him he was crazy. I was mad when I left and I still don't have a heater core. Thanks for letting me VENT.

No! Same world as you just cant see the forest for the trees. Im not a people hater or any crap like that I just try and support some shlub over here when I can. If I was completely crazy I guess I'd have to run around naked because I dont own a stitch of clothing made in the USA.

Even if it was made in the USA it would probably be made by mexicans living here.

I bought some swaybar endlinks for my moms '97 t-bird, one was made in china, one made in turkey. wtf.

Engine parts (I know the heads apply to this) were cast in Mexico....assembly was in Canada at the GM engine plant.

The interior plastic and exterior plastic was made in Canada.

The factory Goodyear tires were made in Canada.

Many of the electronics are made in Mexico.

Trans Am power antennas were made in Mexico.

The factory DeCarbon shocks & struts were made in France.

The factory PBR brake calipers & rotors were made in Australia.

Some of the 10 bolt rears were made in Australia.

Emissions & belt routing decals found underhood were printed in the United States.

Lighting & marker lights (Guide), wheels (Enkei) & other miscellaneous items (Delphi) came from the fine state of Indiana.

That's all I can think of right off the top of my head...

Not true.

I received a "Consumer Information" sticker from GM with my car. They all came with these when new, and I still have mine. Here is what it states:

PARTS CONTENT INFORMATION

For Vehicles in this Carline:
US/Canadian Parts Content: 86%

For This Vehicle:
Final Assembly Point: STE. Therese, PQ Canada
Country of Origin:
Engine Parts: United States
Transmission Parts: United States

That was for my 1998. Percentages may have changed by '02 though.

I just saw heater core. Sorry. Heater cores for GM are made by Harrison Thermal Systems in the US. You didn't get a stocker.

Enkei makes tons of stuff for GM. They don't put them name on the OEM job numbers.

There it is! I knew the percentage, but couldn't find my paperwork to support it. I believe the vehicle is considered a domestic as long as it's above 80% North American parts content. I remember reading several years ago that Ford's Crown Victoria was considered an "import" because of the parts content. I believe it was 78% North American content.

j/k........you're right though. The factory wheels & marker lights don't last long on a lot of f-bodies. Most leave the headlights & tail lights alone, so I can still claim those

alot of parts might be of american origin but that might only mean their HQs are here.
