Oh yay, here's capn smokey to tell us that a GT500 is a POS when he drives a 3rd gen. F-body.

What a genius!

I can in my twin turbo Viper. My only loss is to a white 3rd gen. Camaro I ran into one night. Damn, that ****** was fast.

For the price(41k+dealer markup), the GT500 is a turd. Way overweight and sloppy handling compared to a C6 Vette, BMW Z4, Porche Caymen or Boxter, SLK Benz, M3(or the badass twin turbo I6 330i). You can get all of these for similar $$$.

Its an awesome motor with awesome potential trapped in a turd of a car. If GM can make a ~3100lb, state of the art suspension, ~50/50 weight distribution, 430+hp na LS3 Corvette for under 45k, it makes the GT500 look like a total laughing stock, in terms of technolgy, suspension, chassis, weight, handling, etc.

for that car practically.. If you had slicks or DR's on a fbody running at the track and the gt500 was next to you with street tires, YOU would rip it a new one, get your facts straight moron there not ******* fast there overpriced cars that weigh a shitload. Thats like saying a 04 gto would beat a fbody...since you don't take weight into comparison I'm guessing you would say that even tho it isn't true.. But anyways why don't you just fricken race a shitstang and see how you do first before you start thinking there almighty fast. Id guarantee you'd shut the **** up then after you realize what kind of a idiot you are thinking they run 12s lol. I'm not saying there slow, I mean they got great top end but acceleration wise there not all that great, you could buy a fricken c6 vette for the price of those things and beat one brutally since they take corners alot better then a big brick does that is so un-aerodynamic I think my dogs head would get ripped off if he stuck it out the window of those gt500s.

Given traction, a stock gt500 will run a mid-high 12, yes.

They will trap around 115.

Stock terminators run mid 12s. GT500s run low 12s completely stock. Seen it with my own eyes...

Like he said, mid 12s is a Terminator time. GT500s have been low 12s frequently, when bone stock.

Only one...ONE stock GT500 has been offically timed in low 12's, that was by Evan Smith of Mustang and FF magazine, it hit 12.28 after many tries and by VERY experienced driver of mustangs. All the others I've seen, read about,et all, are mid to high 12 sec. cars. Most owners barely break 13's.

So, I guess that the two (yes two) bone stock GT500s that were running 12.3-12.4 at my local track consistently in october just don't exist, eh? Most owners barely break 13s? Are you ******* serious? Hell, a ******* magazine editor ran a 12.9. They're mid 12 second cars with average drivers, 12.6-12.7 is the norm. They're low 12 second cars with a good driver. It's as simple as that.

Try to refrain from talking out of your *** next time, chief...

EDIT: HOLY CRAP, the story about a stock C6 LS2 Corvette pulling 6 car lengths on a GT500 that had a pulley, tune, and gears has me ROLLING! You guys try too hard!

And at MY track theyve ran high mid to high 13s I guess if the track is different then whatever, actually you know what check these links out they seem to usually be the most accurate of averages for cars.
