Default how much power to beat a gt500

my girlfriends brother just got an 07 gt500 and were gonna make a few pulls on the freeway. I dont wanna do it til i know i can beat him, what do i need? mods and power are in sig, but the car has 160k, was bone stock til 158k and thats when the car made those #'s. i dont wanna go internal on the motor since im building a 418, i was thinking about a 100 shot. I just dont like the idea of n20 on 160k motor, but ide rather blow it up than loose. a 100 shot should get me a full 450 rwhp, and 500rwtq, and my car only weights in at 3250 (no power options hardtop). that should be plenty right? let me know what you guys have mod wise and if youve raced one before, thanks!

There not that fast in my opinion, you will probaly get beat with your mods but not by a whole lot, race him and when he beats you by a car or 2 ask him if it was worth paying 65k for it , Wait a weak get you a 100 shot on there then lay the law down on him.

Some old guy and his son in my neighbor hood was talking major crap about there GT500, how they had the fastest street car in town a what not, Raced them right threw down town in front of all the dealearships on a Saturday morning, even the one they bought it from! I whooped that *** and you can too!!

F-body weighs what a good 600+ pounds less then the GT500? So if he has 500hp you'd need 430-440

4.11 Gears, TEA 2.5 LS6 Heads, NW 90mm TB, TEA Ported FAST 90mm, and a G6X4.

J.k. you should beat him, if not it will be really close. Remember hes boosted. But still doesnt compare their MSRP, vs an F-body. Im not a big Condor/GT500 fan though. Record this run!!!

I raced a shelby gt500 from 10-100mph and put a fender on it.. Keep in mind that those cars are very heavy. My post is somewhere in the street racing and kills forum.

I beat one in the 1/8 when I was stock. Don't know if I could have held him off til the 1320 or not. I don't kid myself, I know it was definitely driver error, I imagine they are handfuls launching on street tires.

I remember reading a road test of one...C&D put one up against a new C6, IIRC the GT500 wasn't any faster than the 400hp Vette.

Big, heavy, waste of money.

I have seen a few of them run in the high 12's with 112 MPH trap speeds in stock form with a good driver. They have 500 horse at the fly, but they top the scales at 3896 lbs. and have a horrible 57.7% / 42.3% front-rear weight balance. They are really more of an all-around cruiser car than a track performer. You should be able to run with him now from a dig if you can drive.

If you are okay with possibly frying your motor, put that 150 shot on it. Although I'd race him before that too, from a dig. If he can't drive, it'll be real ugly.

I hate GT500's. Heavy, poorly engineered, ugly pos for 41k(if you can find a dealer who isn't gouging).

Run him from a dig a drive your *** off. Drop the rear tire pressure down to 22-25 psi and pump the front ones up to their max rating. Let us know what happens!
