just because yours didn't, doesn't mean it can't happen....although it happens most often when there's some type of surface imperfection, like a scratch/chip/crack there already.

my cousin had a small 2"-long crack in his windshield on his truck, and just turned the defroster vent on......it webbed out in several different directions, and one of them ended up being about 1.5 feet long

i also had a tiny little chip on my windshield on my '95 t-bird, and turned the defroster on, and it ended up webbing out in about 6 - 8 different directions for a few inches

but then again, i've used warm (not hot) water on my camaro's windshield before, and nothing happened to the glass....so it's kinda "luck of the draw".

if you made it to the carwash you probably didnt have ice covering the windshield..lol..

Yea it was horrrible. We never get snow or ice like that. Thats only happened once in the 10 yrs I've lived where I'm at. I woke up and looked out and saw that. That was a few years ago now and the car has been repainted since then and has a cover now.
