Default 60 mph punch!?!?!?

I have seen a few videos of f-bodies punching the gas at about 60 mph and breaking the rear end loose. How hard is it to obtain this? Anyone done it?

Ive done it at higher then 60. I would have a 50 / 50 shot breaking my 315 nittos loose at 60ish when I had pretty much stock suspension.

all depends on how much power your making and how big your tires are. I had to drive on my friends stock z28 rims which had bfg 245s. I could bust those babies loose at 80.

I'm not sure how it works with the m6, I'd guess you just need a lot of power and a down shift. With my a4, a big cam and 4000 stall, I could do it making about 408rwhp. Then with the D1 making 680rwhp I probly could of done it at 100mph but the highest I did it was 70mph and that was scary enough fishtailing going that fast.

Would you have a better chance with a stock suspension rather that a built suspension?

Just get ya a good nitrous kit and a set of 4.10s! On street tires it's a biotch to keep any kind of traction.

Depends... Tires, power, how cold the roads are etc... I will tell you, its been about 15 degrees here in St louis for 24 hours and I have absolutely no problem breaking the tires loose at 1% throttle lol. It really pisses me off tho because my car wont even move anywhere.

Ive personally done this a few times on Nittos in cold weather from a 50 MPH punch in high 2nd gear with 4:10's through a spooled 9 inch.

I saw your "waiting to install" and please do everybody a favor and just go with an X pipe and true duals.. Youll save your self a headache IMO... Just a fellow fbody owner trying to help a brother out by NOT having another Fbod sound like complete ***.

I'll have to agree with this guy. I had the PS lts, ory, and lm and it did sound like ****. I now have tsp td's and get compliments everywhere...even from cops! haha

Also, my 315 sumitomo's with get loose at 60 punches too, even in nice weather

Sure. Throw a drag bar, lcas, sfc's and hal qa1s and you're gonna have a hell of a time breaking loose!

I broke the tires loose all through 3rd and half of 4th on a cold night on street tires. My car has bolt ons and spray. I never did catch traction, even when i was in 4th. That was pissing me off. You should want all the traction you can get!

Damn, does the LM1, LT's, and an ORY really sound THAT bad?!? I want the car to be loud and get all of the attention when setting at a stop light. That's why I went that way

if I think about it, whenever I've done my 2-3 shift at WOT, my car really barks a loud one... damn I need shocks. If the tires are cold it'll be more than a bark and it'll break loose a bit...

At WOT it sounds okay, but around town it sounds like a redneck truck with with some blown out glasspacks.

The true duals from Texas speed are still just as loud, but sound much much better. I got better power too.

All that and you sold your motor? You going to get one that runs good when you bring up for HAN. I wanted to see it run.

TOP I never tried at 60 but I can break my toyo 275s loose easily at 40. I'm not sure I can do it at 60 though. Either make a ton of power, put a small tire on, or rework your suspension so it does what you don't want it to. Or a combination of all these things and have something that will get loose at 100.

My car seems to have a lot of street credit around here. A guy blew his motor and he came right up to me and offered me a number I couldn't really resist. So I pulled it, gave it to him, and now I have something nasty in the works.

You'll see in a few months

Nice you scored on that one. Is it going to remain a street car? Can't wait to see it.

Sorry for thread jack. This guy knows what it takes to break em loose at highway speed though for whats its worth.

I do!

Here's one of me smoking up a set of full blown slicks at a 50 roll. You can hear me feathering into it. I dont have any videos of me spinning at a higher speed then this or i'd post them.

Ugh...I hate reading about how/when guys can break loose. I dont think I have anything radical, but I would expect to be able to easily be able to break 2nd loose without doing anything silly.

However, 1st will break loose like cake. I can slam second, put it to the floor, and if I get a bark thats rare. I know that getting traction is great...but it just makes me wonder about my set up...and my tune... I dont think I ahve anything crazy going on with my suspension. Just the usual mods and upgrades.

Im switching to a different cam before spring I believe. And Im going to look into more cubes... So maybe that will help. haha. I just get frustrated. Or maybe I just dont know how to drive the thing yet...
