not a big fan of the hood...but good lookin car otherwise. Buy it. Drive it. Enjoy it.
edit: to answer your questions...
cost of fixing stuff....It's relatively low mileage so you probably wont be replacing a lot of small parts that add up to quite a bit. If it's been well-maintained I'd say you're good to go for a while.
insurance - all depends. Call your insurance company, give them the VIN and see what they say. Do this before you buy the car.

I agree, if you are in high school-its ok to dream but that car will cost you a lot more than $11,500. Dont get in that thing thinking that its anything remotly close to a camry or you will end up wrapped around a tree. Nice car though

if i had my t/a in high school, i would of ******* died..my maturity level wasn't anywhere near what it is today...if you are diehard on getting a fbody, stick to a v6...you will still be happy for the power it can put down, you can still mod it decently and your insurance won't kill you as much....if you want a ls1, wait until you can afford having it and paying the insurance and still have enough to pay bills/gas/emergency money and throw a lil in the savings acct....but that is just my .02

Are you in high school or college? If high school then you should def go with the v6. I just graduated back in May and I have done a lot of dumb things in my v6 firebird... i dunno what would of happend in an LS1... Your insurance will kill you. You won't have enough money to fix things after you pay some insurance. The v6 is fun and will be faster then your friends mustangs. Wait awhile for you can buy something stock that you can mod yourself!

My insurance isnt very bad on my LT1 T/A and im in high school. I dont know if an lt1 car is cheaper to insure or somthing. Its cheaper than my 98 v6 truck I had and with the truck I was more irrisponsible. Try a 150 shot of n20 to get it into the 14's bone stock v6.

i have to somewhat agree on this whole situation most high schoolers arent mature enough to drive like an adult. but yet i got my first car when i was 14 1971 chevelle SS 454 4 speed car drove it in the summer without a problem. When i hit 16 i got my trans am i did fine its all in how u drive but i also grew up around high performance vehicles so if you have respect for your vehicle you can do just fine .... on the other hand with a high performance car you'll have to work on it/spend money. And if its your first manual i wouldn't even try a new clutch will run you from 350 to 1400 depending on application and thats without installation and insurance for me when i was 17 was 1800$ went down dramaticly being 18 and having a perfect record.

I dont like how people say "kids in highschool shouldnt get a v-8 its too powerfull". Why? Because you werent mature enough when you got yours? You sped, did donuts? Just because they are in highschool, does not mean they cant drive. Each case is and should be based on the individual, not a generalized comment towards a group of people in a certain age group. If this kid is mature, and knows this car can get him into a lot of trouble that he doesnt want to be in, and will RESPECT the car, then he deserves it. If you cant do that, then stick with a carolla.

I'd say thats a good deal for the car. If you are going to acquire this car yes it's fast. Yes it will smoke the tires anytime you want and sometimes when you don't. Yes it will out perform alot of cars you meet. Yes you can kill yourself with this car if you don't think with your head. If another highschool kid pulls up to you and says lets go just take him to the track and beat him in a controlled safe environment, not on the street. Believe me, I'm a helluvalot older than you and have done some incredibly stupid things when I was your age with my first firebird. I got lucky. Alot of people I grew up with I lost due to stupid mistakes and driving beyond thier capabilities.

i agree with every one too. if i drove my t/a back in the day, either it/ or both me and it would not be here today. I had a 3rd gen v8 camaro, and honestly that was enough to get me in trouble, but a great idea to start out mild first.

I think if the kid is forced to pay for the thing himself and he's not completely retarded he might respect the thing enough to not kill himself/wreck it...i could be wrong tho
