Man some haters on here... He was trying to research before posting. Isnt that what everyone yells about? Anyway Im with ya ATLSS. Tons of options to choose from and it can be hard to make a decision. Im all about NOT tearing the car down several times as well. I figure Im just gonna look one day and just hit the buy button and go with it.

out. However, creating a thread entitled "I'm sick of LS1Tech" doesn't
necessarily bring about warm feelings and helpful comments now does it?
I get hundreds of PM's asking for help in choosing H/C packages, blower &
turbo setups, etc...and I try to help to the best of my ability. I'm certain
that other mods and members do as well.
If initial research leads one down the wrong or a confusing path, maybe
the right thing to do would be to post a "H/C gurus - I need some help"
thread.

Again, to the OP...please post up some specific questions or map out
exactly what you're looking for. I will be happy to throw my 2 cents
out there and I'm sure many others will also.

To each their own, what I like isn't what someone else may want. You could go heads/cam, or you could put on a conservative FI kit. Whatever you go with will probably get the numbers you want, but what you really want the car to be like is up to you.
Sounds like you've done the research, maybe find someone on here that is local to you and you can maybe checkout their car. But in my experience, its never right, never. Even when you think it is, there is always room for improvement.

here is what i would do, do research on the best shops in your area. even if it means driving a little bit. if you tell them exactly what you are looking for then they should be able to put together a package that fits you best. for example, do you want this car to be streetable or is a weekend warrior drag car. use this forum to figure out who to bring the car to and then leave some trust in them to come up with the best combo for you.

Again, the title of this thread is a joke... I love all you guys, and love the plethora of information... I'm just having a really hard time choosing which combination to go with...
Some details of what I want:
1. Car is not a DD, but I do want a noticeable idle. I don't mind spending more cash on a higher flowing head so that I can go with a smaller camshaft. Keep in mind that the wife and I enjoy the car together sometimes, and I don't want the car to lope like crazy.
2. 450rwhp would be nice. And according to Vengeance (local shop for me) that number is very easy... but I have mixed emotions about that shop and their claims... but that's a different story.
Does that help unit?
Thanks again guys.

Your goals seem quite simple to achieve. Like you said yourself, better heads require smaller cams, hence better road manners. Seems to me you won't have ANY trouble figuring out your own combo. Best of luck!

Maybe you would be happier back in 1999 to 2000. We had VERY few options back then. Made decisions much easier.

LOL! I actually had Brooke's "B1" cam in my WS6 all the way till 2004. That little cam worked great actually, and I'm still a fan of the smaller (i.e. 220-224 deg. duration) cams for street applications.
Sometimes peak numbers don't mean everything. For a street car, I like some low end grunt still, so a cam that peaks at 6600+ rpm is just too much for me.
If I was doing another build today (for the street), I'd do a nice 224ish cam, with quality stage 2 [insert favorite brand here] heads, an LS6 intake, Kooks headers and catback/true duals of your choice, a Yank stall in the 3500ish range, or a Vig 3200, in front of an FLT trans. Then pick a tuner and you're done with the horsepower part of the build. Of course that still leaves suspension & chassis though.....
That'd be a nice street build with great manners, good durability, and plenty of power to have fun off the track.

I was thinking along the lines of Tony Mamo's C5... which just so happens to make +480whp... I'm pretty sure he is running a 224/224 cam with AFR 205cc heads... ported fast 90, LG lts, etc...
What do you guys think about something similar to that? Would the car have good street manners?
