I know this has been talked about for along time. I currently have a 93 Lt1 Camaro. I am not happy with the car and quite frankly i dont want to deal with the reliability of the lt1. I got the car for 2500. I totally stripped the whole car. I dont have any body panels on the car as of right now, I am doing a 98+ front end conversion.
I recently came across some money and I am stumped as if it would be worth it to add an ls1 engine w/ 6 spd trans + Interior + SS hood OR Just buy a 98+ camaro. I dont know if I would be spending more money either way.

I was recently going through this with my 94....so many problems. In the last year, I replaced transmission, rear end, brake pads and rotors, plugs and wires...a/c still wasnt fixed so I am trying to sell the car and get an ls1 6 speed car. IMO it ain't worth it. Plus ls1 cars look better IMO.

I think it's pointless to do an LS1 swap into an LT1 car. Too much work involved and just a pain in the ***. Don't knock an LT1 though. 383 LT1's and LT4's do very well if it done right. Granted an LS1 is faster stock and after bolt ons too...an LT1 can be made to be just as fast an an LS1 IMO. Build an LT1...torque as hell and actually has bottom end torque to speak of. I've owned both an LT1 and LS1 and I love the LS1 top end but wish they had the umph of an LT1 at bottom end. Just my .02

He already has the LT1. It would be cheaper and a far better idea. I think a lot of you are brainwashed that the LS1 > Everything. You can build a pretty sick N/A big cube LT1/4

i swaped everything into my 96 lt1 car. i mean everything, all the wiring, interior, gas tank, etc. it wasn't hard at all and i get the benitfit of people thinking i have an lt1 car until i open the hood. it took me a week to take everything out of my lt1 and the 01 ss donner car, and put the ls1 stuff in my 96. a guy on this board named mater(tech sponser) from jj's automotive supplied me with everything and helped me out alot with the swap. it's all pretty much direct bolt in. i'd do it again in a heart beat. i bought my lt1 car for 2400 and my donner car for about 4000k with 23 k on it 2 years ago. i don't want to bash on the lt1 but after my ls1, i never missed the lt1 at all and i never will. well if you need any help hit me up with a pm

I disagree. An LS1 is a far more reliable motor and will get better fuel economy than any LT1, also. Taking the money and investing it into a newer LS1 in good condition vs. modding a beat up, old $2500 LT1 is a far better idea.

Buy a LS1 car! LS1 cars are getting cheaper by the day especially now in the winter. Higher mileage 98's are going for less than $6500 in most cases. I found my one owner 2000 Formula M6 in mid december for $3750 at a Chevy dealer
All it needed was a idler puller ($54.00),Battery($60.00) Good Luck!
