you want tq or more hp? the 383 will make the same power as a bad *** heads/cam car but with matching tq numbers. the 402 will make crazy power, because more cubes are always better.

Is it a Daily Driver? If so a 383 would do you right. 383's do sound alot meaner than a 346.

If it's a part time driver, go with the 402. It will make a considerable amount of power over the 383, but that power will come with a penalty at the pump.

Why don't you try putting on some more bolt ons and H/C on that 346 before you go drop big cash on a 383?

408 all the way. Go iron block. Great building block if you choose to do w/ some juice or forced induction down the line.

you can't go wrong either way. if you're looking to get boosted down the road i'd go with low compression. staying naturally aspirated? go high compression. i went with a 402 and my only regret is that i didn't get more cubes. you won't be disappointed with the power or the sound.

The 408/402 can be built as mild or as wild as you like. It can be setup to idle like stock or idle like a Prostocker with an 7800 redline if you prefer.... The larger cube setup will allow you to run a more radical setup and keep it streetable by having more cubic inches to absorb the added duration of the cam.

Assuming all other components are equal (Compression, Cam size, Heads, etc...) the 408/2 and will almost always make slighly more power and a considerable amount more torque due to the added cubic inches.

The 408/402 has it's advatages but thats an additional block you now have to purchase, If you've popped your stock motor and your blocks no good, I'd go 408/402, If my stock blocks fine I'd consider staying 346 or possibly going 383, but I'd probably still end up with the 408/402....

It all comes down to budget, application, and most importantly what do you want out of the car?
