escept for the fact that if you have any type of modifications that the warranty is screwed, even replacing the air filter and not having it serviced at the dealer ship. they are starting to get so **** about everything has to be dont their to insure that they keep getting revenue on the same vehicle every 3000 miles and everything else. even right now you cant change the tire sizes without voiding warranty

With a 368hp Hyundai family car coming, the LS1 seems dated. But for collector purposes, we have to remember that this really is the engine that re-ignited the horsepower wars. It is by far the most famous of the LSx engines and a true classic. Add to that the F-body it came in that was styled like no other car and you really have something irreplaceable. The new Camaro will be fast, but there's a magic to the LS1 engine that makes it unique.

with all this HP talk let me bring one new idea to the table. Have you noticed every auto commercail has a HP rating in it? even the one for family cars or minivans. but what im asking is are they blowing it out of proportion? isn't what they are describing peak HP nothing more? i mean that one number doesn't describe a linear powerband or torque or at what RPM you can achieve such great HP numbers.......******* marketing.

Im not to worried about new cars coming out. Im at 100475 miles. I can run with the best of the new cars. Even an LS1 stock can still beat 3/4 of the new sports cars coming out. Just look at it this way its a new reason to buy new performance parts and put those new cars back in there place!

164k here. car was BONE stock up until 158k and car made 352/372 ! im keeping my f body, all of the new motors are evolutions of the ls1 anyhow. I wanna get something new to go along side my camaro, either a ls3 vette or a new camaro. Either way the fbody isnt going anywhere!
besides the stuff thats really bad *** is out of the fbody range anyway. my roomate just did h/c on his 07z06 and made 575... i cant make 575 and get 28 mpg, i can make 525-550 with a good built 408 but im not gonna be able to drive it on the daily like he does.

No. They aren't. It is a motor and a car. That sounds like something a Mac owner would say. Now we don't want to be in the same deep end that mac owners are in? They never shut the **** up!

when are you guys going to start driving your cars? mine has 172k on it. original paint... it had the factory stock motor and trans in it and ran 13.2 with 140k on it.. and had 160k on the motor/trans when i pulled it to put in another motor/trans.
the only thing that seems to wear in the motor are the cam bearings..

My '98 Z28 has 114k miles on it, stock besides Flowmaster exhaust and SLP lid (for now). Ran a 12.988 two months ago on pump gas.
The appeal behind the LS1 is it's relatively cheap, inexpensive (in comparison to some cars) to increase performance, runs very consistent and can take a serious beating without too many problems. This car is my DD as well.
Let's be honest here too, as fas as performance goes, I would take a stock LS1 over a H/C'd 302 any day.

I was torn between an LS1 T/A and a SN95 (96-98) Cobra for a long time before I ended up deciding I wanted a T/A. You know when the guys on svtperformance recommended the T/A over the Cobra, it's got something goin for it. Now that I own one, I definitely love it! Granted it's definitely not the most refined car in the world, it goes like **** and looks awesome in the process (IMO not a whole lot looks cooler than a clean black T/A, and mine has spent it's whole life sleeping in a garage at night). Fbods are like brash corvettes!
