Thats too bad, I always hear about cars being stolen and no prints taken. My best friend is a cop here in So Cal and has never found a stolen car he couldnt lift a print from...he says most cops are lazy and dont want to bother. Doesnt that make you feel safe?

I'd see what they offer before you decide to buy it back & rebuild. You can probably pick up one from someone here on tech & save some time, hassle & money. Most of us here are pretty damn pick about our cars & maintenance as well, even if we do drive hard...that's what they are engineered for.

Man that blows! I know how it feels to lose something you have a ton of time and money into, but mine didnt get stolen, it just burnt to the ground but anyways good luck with the new project, and maybe do what I do, and have some cameras outside viewing your garage. Even if they are dummy ones they might scare people off. I don't want to take any chances.

well im assuming buyback will be 1/10th to 1/8th of the cost of the vehicle considering the only thing it has is a chassis, and the wheels i bought on it are not the original wheels/tires...so basically ill be buying a chassis and be able to build the car to my specifications, thats my intention now..

Good luck with the Insurance co. My car was stolen last year in May and they still haven't settled up with me. Insurance co's are fxxkers, they collect premuims year after year, but when you file a claim they look for excuses not to pay or to lowball you. Damm them all to hell.

you showed a pic of how your car was broken into (window pulled out). but do you know how they started the car? are there any loose wires, was the ignition drilled out, was the steering column knocked free? its possible someone could have copied the ignition key but not the door key. (btw, alarm doesnt sound if you but the ignition key in)

no idea, the ignition is fine, my mom and i are wondering if a car with a trailer literally came up and took it, only reason we believe this is while waiting for my car to get released from the impound lot was we saw a truck that was extremely quiet and loaded his car up and left in less than a minute..

i can only speculate since i didnt tkae it, but i would really wanna know how/why

thats crazy!! within a month of my car being stolen I had a check.

also fwiw when I was talking to my insurance lady today I asked about added insurance for a car with upgrades. they told me as long as I put the coverage on with some sort of proof that I would be covered. they told me that it does cost more but not because the car is faster. but because it increases the valve that they would have to pay out. I guess it's a sliding scale that works off of how many 1000 dollars your car is worth + upgrades. so if nada is 10k and you put a 7k turbo system on you would pay insurance as if you bought a 17k dollar car.

my truck is a 17k dollar truck, my z28 was a 13k car. I paid 25 more a month for the truck then the z28.

USAA has no direct link to the government. However, you do have to be military or direct family of a military member to join USAA.

They are totally stand up when it comes to claims. They don't back out or make excuses or pay paltry settlements.

They say that violence is not the answer.

But I'm convinced someone isn't asking the right question.

Cchris1109, you're handling this infinitely more calmly then I would. And I'm a pretty calm individual, most of the time. haha
