Default ws6 mod help

just got an 01 ws6. the mods were all done by the previous owner. this is exactly what he told me he had done:

ls6 crate motor, upgraded 6spd trany w/ pro 5.0 shifter, professionaly tuned, slp mass air, 42lb flowmatched injectors, underdrive pulley, slp longtube headers, suspension, adjustable slp torq arm, lower control arms, fidanza flywheel.

2 questions:
1.) how much do you think these make at the wheels?
2.) what should i do next?

i am in college and on a part time job budget w/ the car payments but still, this is my pride and joy [other than the girlfriend but shh] so i would like to put some money into this and keep it around for a couple years, while going fast during those years. my thoughts were maybe just going with an STS system from a cerrain website where they give you all fuel and other things needed for it or go with the ms4, a couple bolt ons and some DRs [maybe some nitrous for the track or smoking some ponies]. my goal would be right around 500rwhp n/a or if i go STS, well we will just see how much boost i feel liek running. id like to go mid to low 11s without nitrous and maybe mid 10s with it.

any help is appreciated!!

WTF! 500 n/a rwhp w/ a 346 is not fairly easy its very expensive. I'm not saying it cant be done just not fairly easy.

Go w/ FI for that kind of power. you can do it w/o the expense of heads. And you already have a good intake.

You'll probably be better off to spray it when you need it. It'll be a lot less expensive.

49k. it was installed in jan 04. and yeah, ls6, not ls1. 500rwhp would be hella expensive from an ls1. im not dumb. lol. a friend of mine made 420rwhp off bolt ons, fuel, and a ms4 so i think 500 @ the wheels wont be too outta my league.

and how much you think itll make at the wheels as it is now?
im thinking with a typical 13% loss on most motors, 365-380[hopeful]ish

well the ls6 isnt that much different especially if your swapping for a ms4. Its gonna run you pretty much the same to get 500whp N/A. theyr both 346s so once your swapping the H/C/I i dont see much of a difference in price

i was jsut saying that it would be more expensive to get 500 from a ls1 than a ls6. but im most likely going to do the ms4 and bolt ons rather than the STS. id still like to find out how big a shot it could handle though. 250 would be great but i dont wanna push anything.
thanks for the help. keep it coming. any random ideas, spit em out.

Theres a guy in my area running an Ms4 cam only car keeping up with H/C/I cars. Hes putting down near 450 to the wheels cam only. To be honest a good set of heads, a nice cam to accompany, fast90 and ported nick williams throttle body you should be right on the edge of 500 hp.... Now with your 500hp your going to need sticky tires, suspension, 9" or 12 bolt, and a very good tune. Dont forget about injectors, and a fuel pump once you pass 500.

For this setup youd spend around $5500, and if you planned on spraying youd pass $6000.

However keep in mind the stock LS6 block can only take around 550-600 HP before you start spinning bearings.

The other way,

Forced induction.... You dont need heads, and you sure as hell do not want a real aggressive cam with a turbo because theyll contradict each other.

STS turbo kit you can probably get into one for around $3000-5000 depending on condition.. (new/used).

But then keep in mind you have to get suspenion, injectors, fuel pump, all the guages which add up--$200 each (boost, fuel), and then tires, tune ect.

Either way your going to end up spending over $5000....

Speed isnt cheap.

Im very happy with my setup.. H/C/I with a 100 shot. Runs 10's all day long and I spent right around $6200 for the whole thing.

My recomendation: have a reliable DD, and have your WS6 yoked out. Trust me, the more HP you have, the more likely its going to break. You wont have a reliable beast, things start to break, especially at the power level your wanting.

im not on a ridiculously tight budget, i can spend a couple grand. im just not able to go out and spend like 10k like adults. im sure if im rolling around my city with 500rwhp, which is like 60,000 people and about half drive mustangs, i will own like 90% of street cars.

Its really up to you.

I didnt see that you already have suspension. Id probably go forced induction because its more fun.

If we're doing recomendations now i'd say there is no need for 500 hp the cam only ms4 should be plenty and even then you most likely will end up breaking your rear (unless by suspension you mean 9") and i would imagine that this is to be your daily driver since your in college and on a budget i would not suggest even somthing so radical as a ms4, why not look at a cam with less peak horsepower and look at something with a flater torque curve that will be easier to manage.

**note-dont care about streetableness [yes i know i made that up] of car. i will go to the track often and be street racing more often than not lol.

another option i was thinking today was like slow99 said, a rear end before any more power is added, some DRs, and gears<--suggestions also welcome on this too.

i am basically in the planning stages right now. not gonna rush into any decisions yet. i want everyone's opinion i can get. so if you think you know more than someone else posting on this, and you prob have better advice than what i can come up with, lemme have it.
