Did you get them tuned out? if not and its throwing an SES, not only is performence going to be affected but it will just toss fuel in them cylinders. If you did get them tuned, maybe you just running it a little harder then before?

performance is NOT hurt by removing the rear 02 sensors! rear 02's are only emission related. they are there only to turn on the ses light when the cats have failed or dont exist.

Headers will improve milage. You do need a tune. If you are throwing a code, this will throw the computer into a safe mode. This retards the timming and adds extra fuel to prevent damage. Rear O2's need to be deleted from the computer or O2 sims need to be used.

Your front o2's may be toast, if your headers were new and coated, sometimes the loose coating collects on the o2's as it gets blown out and ruins them. I would check those, you'll probably get a code soon.
Rear O2's have doing to do with fuel, they only throw a code, nothing else.
