So you buy these cars for social status? I'm so sorry.

I will never buy a car to one up my personal self. I buy a car because I like it.

Did I say that? No. I basically said that a cool car at a young age is a +1. You take 2 guys, both identical twins, both act the same, one drives a beat up pinto and the other drives a camaro. Who gets the panties?

I didn't make the rules, so there is no sense popping off a comment like that at me.

an 80% match is crazy up to how much total? Mine is max of 5% of salary but i think it goes up to 8% after 5 yrs
im guessing your talking about an 80% match up to a certain amount?
I think its like $86 per pay period or somethin like that, I haven't started it yet so I forget what % it is. But yes we do get it. Like that one guy said I think it is 8%. Awesome none the less. What can I say? Great working for someone in the fortune 500.

sounds like your parents are making excuses to not have you get a car that is probably way too fast for a driver with little to no experience. Luckily I had 4bangers when I was young, or someone would have gotten killed. If I had kids they would not have an LS1 car while living under my roof. Once they could float their own way then the responsibility would be up to them. Sorry, just my opinion. BTW I went through the same thing with my mom and a bike when I was 16, so I hear you, but now that I'm older I completely understand the parents perspective.

Why?

I get a 100% match on the first 3%, and 50% match on the next 3%. That's 75% match on 6%.

I think that's pretty common for any decent company.

That is a very bad idea if you want to get an LS1 on a budget.

Get a '98-'02 Camaro, low miles, decent condition, and leave it stock. That's much more affordable than an '04 GTO.

But it's "too old" and theirs no talking my mom out of it. And I'm not getting another 4 banger, I always almost die in intersections because they don't get up fast enough. I'm used to V8's and if I'm forced to get a newer one, GTO seems like a damn likely candidate. No way in f*ck am I getting a V8 Mustang (unless it was a 68 or a Rouch 427, neither of which are all too likely).

"My Mom wont let me buy a Camaro."

Default lol.

Well I haven't read all the posts but if he's taking in a 4-banger to the shop to get fixed, you have NO business owning an LS1 yet. Get yourself a Mustang or a Grand Prix and enjoy the sunroof/ convertible. Camaro= money pit and techincal "know-how" needs to be technical EXPERTISE! Just my .02

I can't think of anyone with at least half a brain that would buy that argument I know for me, my beater is a 4banger and I'm FAR less likely to be killed in it than in my Z, and ten times more likely if you cut my age in half which sounds about where you are if that.

meh, not by much, in my younger days I got plenty of chances for punani and most often I drove beat up subarus, some wagons even. Girls don't really care much about cars, sometimes it's even a negative, like if you bring up that you have a camaro (or vette, or 'stang or whatever) before she finds out for herself, then you lose points for trying too hard.

That has to be by far the stupidest ******* thing I've read in this thread. If you need fancy **** for people to talk to you, you are a sad, sad human being. Anybody that hangs out with me for what I own I don't need around. It took me a year and a half to save up up the cash for my car, I'm glad I did it, as one of my older colleagues at the fire dept. told me, you should always pay cash for toys.
