I am going to put a 3600 stall in my camaro but need a way to get the car up high enough to get it on jacks or something for me to drop the tranny out. What have yall done to get it high enough. And i would like to keep it semi safe if possible. If you have pics then post

Jack the car up as high as the floor jack will go.

Place jackstands under the car.

Stack some 2x4's, 4x4's, or whatever (be careful and use STRONG material here) under the floor jack to get more height.

Jack car to desired height, then reset jackstands.

I was just in the process of doing this, right now my car is in the air as high as the stands will go on all 4's. I used some 2x4's on the jack to raise it higher. Enough room for me to work underneath it, if you need more room get some 2x4's under the stands but be carefull and its a good idea to nail/screw them together.

me and hilton used 4 6 ton jackstands and a regular floor jack to get the car up. we did it in steps, whole car halfway up at first then raise each corner full height one at a time.. it was plenty of working height but not enough when it came to rolling the tranny out while it was on the tranny jack. good thing it fell off the jack and onto the concrete so we could drag it out.
