Couldn't you go into 4th anyways without really losing anything?
It's funny you said that. I tried it and ran the same time as when I was going thru on the rev limiter...still pointless

on a club dyno day a stock ls1 started to experience valve float at about 5800. i wouldnt push it over that unless your willing to take your chances. springs are the weak point.
