The fact that the 03-04 Cobra came with a s/c is not impressive. What IS impressive is that they can make in excess of 700rwhp without unbolting a valve cover. Swapping a blower and tune onto a Cobra is just as easy as a cam swap on an LSX, if not easier. Been there.

Any car with FI can make good power 600-700whp BUT you will never make it as easily as on a Cobra.

A 600rwhp Z06 would walk a 600rwhp Cobra though. Food for thought.

Cobras are so rare, I advise having one before having a Vette.

Well I made 635 at the flywheel just swapping valve springs and could have went farther if I applied some meth and timing..........

I'm guessing that you either meant that you have $3,500 for mods or that you have $35,000 to spend on a car. If you want to carry a friend or two get the Cobra. If you want a lightweight car that does everything well then get the 'Vette. Which one would you rather see parked in the driveway?

For that money you should take a decent amount of time and shop around with a neutral friend or two in tow. Just my .02 from experience.

He meant that you need a solid axle conversion to get any decent times out of the Cobra at the track.

I would go with the Cobra for the same reasons stated by JayplaySS2:

Easier to mod
Easier to fix
Easier to maintain
Easier to live with as a DD or race car

i say z06, hands down
same thing here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8Z9qZZmWmw&NR=1 it's about a 60hp difference and the z06 still beats the cobra

You could probably get the Whipple done for about $5000 for everything.

In other words get the Z06.
Add the cooling mods to that as well and everytime u run the blower gets hotter and boosting hot air in turn making less power. And as a person who spends way more time runnin on the street that just sucks.

I would have a hard time choosing between the 2. I love 03-04 Cobras. But what STILL makes me like the Z06 more, is you'll never get the 'Mustang' out of a Cobra

Everyone around here has dynoed higher then that.... On different dynos too. My 01 Z06 dynoed 351rwhp.... Stock. Most of the 02-04 Z06s have been around 350-360rwhp, with most of them being in the 360rwhp range.

As someone has posted, get a KB Z06. Both aren't bad choices and a few people in this thread have shown pros & cons about them...

Cobras are dyno queens. yea they are fast, but relatively slow for the numbers they put out. I had 2 friends race not too long ago, one was a pullied and tuned cobra, the other was a 02 SS camaro with long tubes a tune (and i believe a stealth cam... he wont admit it, but w/e) the cobra claimed somewhere in the 440-460 hp and the camaro had never been dynoed. the camaro was pulling on him pretty steady the first run, the second run the SS used a 100 shot, and it wasnt even close.

so... my vote goes to the z06

Get the Z06. Its in a world of its own and not really comparable to the Cobra. Both are fantastic cars ( have owned both ) but I would never go back from my Z

Looking good.

You do realize you would be on barrowed time with your shortbock? You know what it runs to replace a Z06 rear and clutch vs a Cobra clutch? With an 8.8 swap (like my old car) you will have NO worries about breaking the rear. 3.4 Whipples are cracking 750+rwhp with Ford issue longblocks and 135- 140mph traps. Thats crazy fun for the street and it will idle/drive like stock until you get into it. Amazing.

I say go turbo these days no matter what it is.
