Im here with ya man, a 69' camaro LSX powered would rule, but at the end of the day its still an old car... with old car problems. They tend to be money pits.
With the z06, you get a newer car, more horse's, better handling, and proboably any chicks ***** you want in town![Grin](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_grin.gif)
Wiith the 69' camaro, you get an old project, lots of time and dedication (which some people dont mind), tons of $$ dropped into it, and proboably more guys than chicks asking you about your LSX swap resto![Bang Head](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_banghead.gif)
Good luck brother, hope you get what you want and it all works out

Although I think the 1st gens are bad ***, and a LS1 in a 1st would make it even more bad ***.. I still like the C5 vettes better, especially if your going to be taking it to road courses...
BUT....
If you take it to a lot of car shows.. I would chose the 1st gen with the LS1.
Street/Track car = C5 Vette
Show car = 1st gen Camaro
Just my opinion.

id say '69, we have two 69 and like everyone ^^ said the 69 has the wow factor. id say if you asked 10 people what their favorite car was, 8/10 would say a 69 camaro.
when i drive my dads 69 it feels like everyone is watching me. not the same in my 2000 ss

Chicks where you're from must be a lot different, the ones here who care about cars either only care about Germans, exotics, or old school muscle. None give two ***** in a bucket about newer american cars, no matter how badass they are. It pisses a couple of my friends with better/faster cars off haha.
As far as money pit, if you build it right, it WILL be a new car and have less problems than an assembly line car. Period.
There's a lot less to go wrong (traction control, more over-engineered parts, ect) and everything is easier to get to anyway IMO.
My car as it is was built with stock replacement parts or used parts from old cars. I have $8000 in it counting the price of the car and the paint job. Now mine won't handle anywhere near as good as a Vette, but it doesn't have any more reliability issues than any average new car either.
The handling is a matter of dropping money and time into new components (better designed tubular control arms, weight loss, larger wheels/tires, brakes. ect). Which is something I will be working on in the future.
There are just a lot of misconceptions about owning an old car people seem quick to accept as fact. Noone believes I get 23+ mpg highway if I keep my foot out of it, but I do it every time I drive the 3.5 hour trip home (through lots of hills no less).

BTW nice *** chevelle. My friend has a silver with black ss stirpes 1970 chevelle malibu with the ss coversion. he has a 396 big block in it, and it haulls absolute ***. His dad owns "classic carriages" which restores those kinda cars. I love the sideways speedo on those things, its pretty gnarly to watch that cat hit 160 in the chevelle
no lie, its PhAt
its nice, its sexy, but it wont ever be like a new car

I had to ditch the sideways speedo for an SS style round gauge package, I wanted a factory look tach and such...best $300 I've spent on the car so far IMO
and I just have to disagree...if you do the build RIGHT, the car will be better than a new car. I've been in old cars with new interiors swapped in, but even without going that extreme you can make them more comfortable, ride better, handle better, and have and overall better quality. it's just a matter of time, effort, and money like anything else.

Another vote for the 69, one of my all time favorite cars.
You already know the 69 will stand the test of time, looks wise. I like the z06, but it's gonna look more and more dated as newer models hit the streets, imo.

haha just to own a vette is expensive. my buddies C5 radio unit broke...... cost 1500 dollars for a new stock one. he bought a new 3300 dollar 1 or 2 year warrnty and he said it has already paid for it self with just the radio unit and one other thing he said. EVERYTHING is expensive in those cars!!!. PLUS the 69 camaro would look bad ***

You said it yourself, you got the funds and time, and your already familiar with the lsx motor, buying a c5 z06 would be almost like buy a slighty better version of the car you already own now, so your not gaining much
I currently drive a modded 02 z28 on the weekends but plan on getting an 04 zo6 and only adding a few appearance mods, since i dont have time and funds to restore an old car
