i get just over 11 mpg consistently in the city, with a best of 13.5 city. hwy is always better of course, but no where near what everyone else gets. i guess thats the only drawback of having a big torque converter.

24mpg here, thats WITH an A4, 3500 stall and a large cam. You guys getting significantly less than that really need to go through your car and find out what the issue is...

Driving back home from missouri, with a load of illegal fireworks filling up the hatch. AC full blast, going EXACTLY the speed limit, and in 6th gear as much as possible, got me 29 mpg.
Driving there going as fast as I could 85mph and up 24mpg.
My four cylinder HHR gets 29-30 and would have carried more explosives but its not as fun to drive.

LS engines are great on cruising. But in stop and go, forget about it.

LQ9 6.0 I get 23-24 mpg highway which is better than the 4.8 it replaced.
City I get 10-13.

Man I felt bad about mileage until reading some of your averages.....I'm sure a tune would help some of you

Yeah, I dont know why some of you are getting such bad gas mileage. Mods in signature. I drive from Charlotte, NC to Pittsburgh, PA every other weekend, and I average 27mpg both ways. Thats a lot of mountain driving too, with pretty steep inclines. I have averaged a little lower (24 mpg once) because people need to learn that the left lane is for faster moving traffic. I had to keep downshifting into 5th.

Wow, to hear some of you guys describe it, your 300+ hp LS1 suddenly turns into some kind of miraculous gas-sipping econo car out on the highway. That is really, really amazing. My '00 low mileage 6-speed SS has been tuned, diagnosed and declared in perfect mechanical condition, yet it gets really poor gas mileage when driven normally around town or out on the open road. Only when I skip shift continually and NEVER exceed 2000 rpm in any gear do I see a relatively decent gas mileage figure.

My LS1 powered car IS my economy car...1500 rpms in 6th gear is 68 mph..as long as your are under 2000 rpms with these LS series engines they get good MPG..if your not getting good MPG with your car there is something wrong with the car or the driver.....before I modded my car is got 29 MPG on the highway
