A little MPG rant...
Well I live in Amarillo tx and had to go to Albuquerque for a little meeting for work. Well it's 280 miles each way, and I was the only one going so I had to drive. Well I had to drive my TA, it's a 2000 TA M6 stock 3.42's full bolt ons with a mild comp 220/224 cam. I drove with the cutout closed, just didn't wanna hear it the whole way, really the only time I have it closed is when I take long trips. Well anyways I averaged 27MPG on the whole trip. Oh yeah and the car rolled over 112,000 miles on the trip. And of course I had the AC on cause it's hot as hell here this time of year... Anyways I just think it's crazy how new cars are so happy about making 30mpg with a 110hp 4cyl. I'd rather have 375+ and have a cool car. That is all...

I keep telling people that my Hawk gets great gas mileage but they don't wanna listen! Hell in my 95 Trans Am A4 I got about 24 MPG and I was hitting triple digits on most of the ride to Maryland. Can't wait to see what my 02 Hawk does on a road trip!

Crazy isn't it, the mileage these cars can get!
People are impressed when I tell them that my 'Bird gets 24mpg, then they are amazed when I say "Yeah, it's not bad for a V8". They can't believe a V8 is capable of those numbers.
I really wish I had a M6, people would just fall over if I told them I was getting 27mpg.

Hahaha, no kidding. I just got out of thirdgens, to get into a nice sensible commuter car--my 2002 z28! When I was car shopping, everybody told me I was crazy for getting another v8 muscle car. "Gas prices are going to kill you!"
My bone stock Z with just under 46k got 31 mpg on a recent trip to San Diego and back. I was doing about 80 the whole time!
...such a nice sensible commuter car. I gues it's as good as a kia

I got 27.3 in a 2000 corvette. Very conservative driving with the AC on. From Napa to Redding (slight uphill), Redding to Reno (aggressive uphill), Reno to Napa (mostly downhill). Only mods are ls6 intake, blackwing intake, and borla exhaust. From Napa to Redding I averaged just over 29.

I used to get 30-31mpg "city" some highway 55mph driving going back and forth to college..my 4cyl s10 didnt do that good on the same trip! that was with a m6 TA w/ every bolt on that ran 8.20s @ 88 1/8mi. Right now my current TA w/ no MAF and screwed up tune gets about 10mpg, but I don't drive it much. My cam only car would go a few nights at the strip and get about 18mpg, going several rounds in 2 classes.
I'm looking for 20 plus in my TA now with a cam/heads setup when I get it in. Screw hondas, my buddy has an Ls/vtec hatchback that oly gets 25mpg and is lucky to run high 13s

I have always had the older muscle cars.Lots of power and fast, but of course no gas mileage you wouldnt even consider talking about it. Then I bought my 02 Z-28!! I figured it would get aroung 20MPG. But then I knocked down 30 MPG in an automatic.WOW. I drove the car 6.5 hours to race in an NMCA event got 28 MPG going there, ran 13.5 in the 1/4 with a stock set up, raced all weekend and got 20MPG drag racing!! UNREAL.
I just put LTs on the car and took off the air pump and I thought well here goes some gas mileage, nope still knocked down 28MPG. These cars are awesome!!

in the grand scheme of things, is gas really that expensive? milk is getting up there next to gas per gallon (at least at COSTCO) and ever think about water? if you tried to buy a gallon of that Fiji Water bullshit, imagine the cost of that. sure, gas sucks and yeah, Europes had high prices for a while now and they still drive. tnhe world wont grind to a hault if they keep going up. but think about this...gas gets taken out of the ground, shipped half way around the world or cross-continent, then refined and all that bs that i dont know about and then they sell it for $4/gal. that aint too shabby IN THE GRAND SCHEME OF LIFE
