What's more funny is "check gages" is spelled more correctly than "check guages" . Because gauge is spelled gage or gauge depending on where you live. Many GM cars/trucks say that on it. They have been doing it for close to 20 years that I know of. Remember our cars are built in canada.

I noticed that when the light first came on, I, in all my humbleness, lol, even questioned my own spelling. The only thing I can think of is the Canadian manufacturing and being so close to the French language they may have got it wrong.

i think the mispelling of check gauges originated from the leadman at the oshawa plant let the same engineer that designed the LTx ignition system print the cluster. then it carried over to the LSx platform, like the cat hump.

Actually guys, that is considered a correct way to spell it. It is acceptable spelled either gauges or gages. I didn't know it either but I had an advanced electrical class this past semester and my instructor made a distinct point of instructing us that we will see both spellings. He used to be an instructor for General Motors.

Some people obviously do not get acquainted with their cars closely enough.

My buddy and I noticed that last year. Every GM car we've looked in has been that way.

I noticed it the first time I sat in my car when I was at the seller's house. I told my friend and when we got back to KC one of the first things he did was turn on his 2000 Z28 to see if it was the same way.
