one thing some people forget, is most ls1's are a y-pipe setup, while ALL mustangs have true duals, why GM saddled us with this pain in the **** i have no idea, but i rectified the solution ASAP on my car (tsp duals with spiral flows) and imho it now sounds just as good if not better than full exhaust mustangs
I meant to mention that on the original post.

At WOT I think my Cobra sounds better (partly because of the eaton ), but at idle I have to give it too my old SS, but that was because of the cam not the exhaust setup so much.

Y-pipe=the suck

Full Exhaust I have to go with FBodies. Most Mustangs sound nasty with just a catback, especially at lower rpms but an LS1 with longtubes and true duals gets the edge imo.

alright my buddies got a cobra and ive always loved the way that thing sounds. at one point he removed the cats completely and was just running straight pipes and it sounded awesome. i think the real reason why is the sound of the blower, that whining sound drives me nuts ( in a good way) i love it. but honestly, i love the way ls1's sound. heres a clip of my ss with headers, y pipe, loudmouth, no cats.

I have 99 SS stock cb with a Spintech 343SC muffler. Sounds like I have longtubes when I rev it up!!! At WOT there is a distinct rumble like no other muffler I've ever had on a car. Gives it a older iron block muscle car sound.

Never heard a muffler only on a car sound so crispy, smooth, deep, and throaty!!! Definatly not on a mustang. My friend has a 96 mustang gt 4.6 stock exaust and the thing sounds like a V6 when he punches it. No joke. I know my SS stock muffler sounded pretty mean already.

I dont know who voted mustang but you guys must not be hearing right and the cobra sounds nice but anything supercharged with a whine would sound nice dont you think? If any mustang owner wants to hear what im talking about, just pull up next to me and try to race me and you'll hear it because you'll be behind me anyways.

LS1 dumdumdum!!!

I voted for the Mustang for the simple fact that you can throw a h-pipe and flowmasters on a 225 hp 5.0L and it'll sound absolutely nasty.

That being said, I do LOVE the sound of a loping LS1 with a nice exhaust! It's a completely different type of sound in my opinion.

I like them all, when it comes to mustangs i love hearing an 03-04 KB cobra mustang with a borla stingers exhaust. When it comes to f-bodys I love hearing heading no cats and a GMMG exhaust.

I thought it was just me, and i love cars but not super big into them like some of you guys, but I can call a mustang sound from a mile away w/o even looking. But yeah, thought it was just me that always thought mustangs sounded way better.

Mustangs DO sound good, but, if you get a GOOD sounding exhaust setup on an LS1, and not some SHITASS raspy catback bullshit, then an LS1 can sound VERY awesome! I'll take the sound of MY LS1 over any mustang I've ever heard.

Sound clip in SIG for the doubters

But in the end, it IS personal preference I guess...

stangs with bassani x are great, but like everyones saying theyre still slow . lt1s sound better than both imo though...i think alot of ls1s and lt1s with magnaflow and lts sound almost as good as stangs though
