I have no idea where you live, but truckstops will almost always have a scale. If you talk to the "scale master" and tell them what you want to do, they would probably be ok with it. Costs about $6 to $10 to scale at a truckstop. The scales are supposed to be accurate to within 100 lb. or so, still good enough for car weighing, but maybe not so good if you just took a seat out and added a few pieces of carbon fiber or something since it wouldn't show up.

I just go to the dump in the middle of the night, drive up on the scale and look in the window and see the number. Im sure if you went there and just asked when they wernt busy they wouldnt have a problem and probably wouldnt charge you.

My local Farmer's Market after hours turns their view finder around so it faces the drive-on scale. That way the public can weigh for free after hours. It is said to be within 20lbs, due to them weighing vegtables each day and paying for the load by poundage they keep the scale very accurate.

Ours at work is accurate to +/- 20#. Oddly enough I haven't weighed my car on it yet because I never drive it to work. Company truck/gas owns. If you are ever my direction I will let you weigh in exchange for a test drive.
