Ok well this just happened last week. I went to Louisiana for the week and let dad have my car to drive. Well to be nice he filled it up with 87 and not 93. It was nice but I'm not going to lie to you it runs like ****. It feels slow and I can't get myself to go over 4k RPMs becasue I'm scared of what could happen. It also idles rougher and doesn't sound as nice. It has a choked up sound instead of a loud hard crack and roar.

Yeah, I think I read an article on this a while back. It is really only .5, and adding multiple bottles only increases it half of the first. For example, the guy put two bottles in on some 93 octane gas, after the first is was 93.5 and after the second it was something like 93.8 Almost as big of a waste as this tread

3/4 of the way down in the engines section, it says premium. I use premium. Period.

I guess no one in this thread has actually driven their car while scanning with a tuning device like HPTuners.
I get a little knock retard with 93 octane, can't imagine what 87 would be like.
M6 cars are more prone to detonation if the driver likes to run low rpm in higher load situations.
After so many knock counts the cars VCM switches to a low octane table, which obviously reduces timing.

How many times does this topic have to come up and how many stupid people that own these cars that obviously shouldn't to ask such a retarded question. Obviously the only concern here is money, in that case you shouldn't own this car. You might as well put desiel in it if you are going to put regular in it. Wow, just wow!

tried running 89 octane once... car was pinging like crazy... popcorn sounds at lower rpm when giving a little gas. Mileage was ****, used gas like I was at the track except I was babying it in city. I have the car now tuned for 91 octane. Can't imagine how crappy it'd run on any less now that I don't have a low octane table on hand.

I put 89 in mine once too. It did not run really bad but I could definitely feel the difference. And, IMO, your mileage will be lower so it's really not gaining you any $.

Also It depends on how you drive and what is done to your car. When my car was stock and I just drove around town (no racing or fooring it) I put regular in with no problems. Now that I have heads and cam I would not even think about putting regular in. from now on it is premium or nothing.

BP is shady, as well as other off brands (speedy-q) etc. with their "corn oil" additives that are supposed to lower cost, but in the end fry your plugs and gunk your engine. Stick with Marathon or Sunoco. ftmfw
