well, thanks for all the input guys. ive even had some members PM with with some nice cars. i AM taking this slowly and just yesterday after i got outta school, me and my dad worked out a budget what it would be liek making the payments and all else and whatnot (and the 2 jobs still leave me with plentyyyyy of free time so i can manage school too, im in my 2nd year of college). well, we figured ON THE HIGH SIDE id be spending 1600 on gas if i drove alot (3 miles from school, 5 from work) and we called the bank and they said a 6yr loan would be fine. 6 years (72 months) cuz i plan on keeping the car forever so making payments aint a big deal. well, it worked out that my original $13,000 price on 6 yrs (even 5 is within the realm of possibility) is going to be just fine. i am going to wait it out til i find exactly what i want, even if it takes a few months, im in no rush.

I always wanted a Hawk so I got one..... I'm paying $410 a month and it hurts but I love the car. It's not a DD so it only gets driven on weekends. My DD died so now I got like $700 in car payments alone every month now .... Ouch! Find EXACTLY what you want and get it, lifes to short bro, live for today cause tomorrow is only a possability!

Keep in mind that a payment on a 6 year loan doesn't sound bad BUT the last year these cars were made is 2002. Sooooooo, you're going to pay for a car that's at least 6 years old for the next six years. It doesn't sound like too good of a deal to be paying for car thats 10+ years old.

Think about it, it will be 2014 by the time the car is paid off.

Not worth it in my opinion.

I paid 14k for my 99 Z. Rare color and LS1, 6 speed, loaded, t tops, and 24k miles on it will do that. It is perfect though

I'm paying off $1,500 off of it a month now since I spent a lot of modding it earlier. College is about to start soon here again so I wanted to get it out of the way.

Eh, I'll play devil's advocate. If you want it, and can afford it, get it. Life is short and you can't take your money with you. It sounds like you have done the planning/research, and yes it is getting to be a dated car, but when I went to get my loan and the lady blue booked my car and whatnot she said they don't usually approve 10K+ loans on that old of a car, but that Trans Ams seemed to hold their value a little better. If the bank is going to let you take out a 6 year loan on said car, then they must see some sort of value in it if they had to seize it.

I pay $235/month on mine, but have the cash to pay it off in full if I want to. Just stumbled across this gem today, and am kicking myself that I didn't wait a year and look for the one I really wanted.

To the op, I bought mine from a certified used gm dealership here in town about a year ago. Dad said that I was the one paying for it so I could get anything as long as I could afford it. SO we finnaced it for a year and Poof I have a 2001 Red Z28 sitting in the front yard. Fast forward to today I received this nice little certificate that says I am the official owner and no more payments. Its a great feeling man. Btw my car had 132k miles on it now has 142k so ya you think might not drive it a lot oh but you will lol.

Dont have to wait much longer for LSX cars to come down....I have already seen many solid cars in the 5,000 range

There are plenty of deals out there man. I just bought a very very clean 99' Z28 w/ 60k miles on it for $7300. I'm 27 now and got my first F body around your age and if I could give you some advice I would say DO NOT get a car like this until you are done with school, but you aren't going to listen so look for something in the 8-9k range...lol.
