**** why does it matter how the ******* T-tops broke or came off the point is the car is flooded damn. Now back to the post i would get the money for it and by another one so i wouldn't have to worry about anything down the line.

Is the whole car under 3 foot of water or did the interior just fill up with 3ft of water from missing a top? If its just the interior i'd say rebuild it unless you dont really car about it and want something else.

I'm thinking the car was F**ked up in the first place so he just pull the tops off to get the insurance co. to pay for basically what was a broke *** car before the storm hit IMO.....There is no way in hell the t-tops mysteriously blew off the car.

I'm pretty sentimental about things, so I'd try and fix it up.
If you do total it, the buy back will probably be dirt cheap. You could get it back and part it, or gut it and build a race car.

Pretty sure he is running a con....
If I knew a hurricane was coming to Nashville I would leave my vette out so I could just total it instead of having to pay the 3k for a new tranny and clutch. That is, if I was a crook.

first off i am not a F-body expert. hence why i am here. so excuse me for not knowing the tops cant come off. second the t-top was smashed. i dont have pics because im in FLORIDA. i have been here for a month and will be here for another month. some body went to work, since today is the first day my unit was alowed back in, and told me it was smashed. and when your car interior is flooded wih 3 feet of water and untouched for 4 days, i dont have much hope for it. i would like to know how much they are worth so i know if i can pay the loan off. good lord throw me a bone people. i live in new orleans, there are much better ways to total a car out then leaving a t-top unlatched.

Well get us some pics as soon as you can. Anything can be fixed, its dependent on how bad you want to fix it. I have some parts lying around I would sell to you for cheap, I hate to see any f-body left for dead. If nothing I might even buy the damn thing and have a new project.

The Corvette I bought (mentioned previously in this thread) had fresh water in it just to wet the floor for about ONE hour. I do not know about Camaro/Firebird/Trans Am, but they most likely have similar electronics as the Corvette. Your vehicle has three feet of water in it that has been/will be in there for quite some time. There is going to be serious corrossion that will be virtually impossible to get rid of unless it is completely replaced. With three feet of water/salt water, most likely every bit of everything will have to be replaced interior-wise and interior wiring-wise; as well as fluids and sensors. Since there were many of these cars made, there are most likely plenty of good interiors around that can be had for somewhat cheap. But, like I said, if it were mine I would most likely just get money from the insurance company so you can get another one, or something different, or a house, or a dog, or whatever your heart desires and not have to regret it later on down the road when problems arise, as afore mentioned by someone else.

well...speaking from experience. (I work at Cleveland PAP, Ive built salt water flood cars before....
TOTAL IT....NOW.
That car is worth more in parts than it is together. At the least your going to need...
Dash-Airbags-seats-body harness-bcm-theft deterrent-ignition-column-carpet-headliner-every speaker-radio-door regulators, door panels, heater box, heater/ac vents, and the list goes on. Every electrical connector that is sitting in saltwater right now is ****. Ive built katrina cars. Its not fun.
I just added up about 3 grand in PARTS.
Not to mention dropping the entire drivetrain, and painstakingly replacing your body harness.
