The reason they are a little expensive are because LSX parts are the hottest **** on the market I also think its because alot of LSX motors are going into alot of older cars. RX7's etc.

The LS1/LT1 stuff isnt really that bad price wise IMO. You get what you pay for. Look around too, many vendors on this LS1Tech have great prices on parts also.

While some parts are expensive there are some parts that are dirt cheap, ie. L92 heads for $249 bare ea. and less than a grand for a pair complete. At over 300 cfm at a fairly low lift these are probably cheaper than any gen 1 sbc or 5.0 liter ford. Blocks are very reasonable for the amount of power they can support. LS1 block good to 1000HP, Ford 5.0 block good to 500 HP..of course these are aprox #'s, but stock for stock you get a lot more with an LSX combo then you get with gen1 sbc or 5.0 sbf.

hhahahah you think its expensive? Wait till you own a vette. For instance Ceramic Coated Longtube Headers cost me for my old camaro $450 brand new. Brand new Headers for my c6 z06= $2000. Cold air intake=$450, it never ends. Consider yourself lucky and quit your whining!

i think thats been pointed out. LoL

I wont repeat the fact that the LS1's are still fairly new and yadda yadda...

But i paid $600 for my 5.8 windsor shortblock and put it down into my 89 mustang with a mild cam. I have less in that car than my 98 SS but the camaro stock will keep up with it, damn 1969 351. Technology these days

But this thread is apples and oranges like said before.

Yea...5.0 stangs are the cheapest turds to mod. Hard to get more bang for the buck out of something else.

You know the term "mod motor" had to do with the manufacturing/casting process(V6, V8 and V10) but the V6 was never made.

Interchangability of the mod motor parts, are not as good as the lsx stuff, you have at least 7 different front covers (4.6 SOHC, 5.4 SOHC, 4.6 DOHC, 4.6 Supercharged DOHC, 5.4 DOHC, 5.4 3 valve, 4.6 3 valve. (I am not familiar enough with the V10's to list them)

Intakes, you have several, but most won't work without changing major parts like the alternator placement (Bullitt intake) ect...

It is interesting that even different mod motors built at windsor or romeo have different main cap structure..

Buy used.

A lot of these guys switch up their combos so much, you think they were Ryu from street fighter. lol

I just went into the parts section and saw a pair of heads that were making 550 rwhp for $500.

There is no excuse for why it's that high, other then they can get away with it.
For my SBC I bought a new comp cam and lifters for $125 and longtube headers for another $125.

For an LS1 a cam is $400 and headers can be double or triple that depending on brand.

There is nothing special machineing difference between turning a cam for one of the other. Same with welding up header tubes. You use the same process, the same material. One just costs more, because LS1 people will pay it, because at first to own an LS1 you had to have more money, because they were new. If you can afford the 'new' thing, it's assumed you also have more play money to afford the 'new' parts.

Since we all buy the stuff I think they are pretty much right.
They will sell us stuff at as high of a price as they can were we'll still buy it and we'll buy it at a pretty high price.
Thus why a fast intake is so much. Because they can get it.

Try buying parts for a GTO. You would think they were all made of platinum or something...
