No I am not a millionaire, but will be coming into a settlement from wrongful death case. It is something I am not proud of given what had happened.
But I do get excited with a 550 rwhp American Muscle V8 car.

Well sorry for the unfortunate of the events that are causing you to being able to do the following to your car but if your father knows it's something that makes you happy, I believe he will be happy to know your doing something you have always wanted to do....I know my dad would be proud of me if something ever happened to him that I would want to inherit our boat or do something that we always had fun with and know that I enjoyed. So have it man...your going to have one hell of a car!!!

I would save half of the money then spend the other half on a forged 346, budget H/C/I, built trans and 12 bolt/9 inch suspension and spray....

Then make that other 10k or whatever half is work for you and have more play money later.

In the end, it's you who knows what exactly will make you happy. Sorry for your loss

Thumbs up

Sorry about the wrongful death. That is tough. noone should go through that.
I say sell car and with that money along with the settelment money, buy your youself a nice, low mileage Z06!!!
I did vote for option number 1 though. A 408 stroker, some nice heads, Moser 9 rear end and some other little goodies.
GOOD LUCK!!!!

I don't like any of the options. Big single or twin turbos on and a forged LSX block is the way I would go.

cobalt is right the economy sucks. if your job is in ? then save it. but if you just gotta spend first buy the book dyno proven performance for $16 on amazon. i know its a great big advertisement but good BIASED info. then call a couple of our sponcors and work out a deal. MONEY TALKS!. i'm sure everyplace is hungry for business. just my 2 cents but either a 454 lsx, check out if anyone is copying the c6rs pratt/miller 500 cube lsx. (probably way to expensive). or get a 402 short block for 4k, add blower or turbo and save the rest for gas!

if your mind is already made up to spend money on parts, I'd spend some & save some. Get a forged shortblock ($3500), Procharger or APS TT ($6500), trans rebuild ($1700), 9" ($2500); that gives up roughly $5000 to spend on supporting mods like suspension, tires, driveshaft, clutch, fuel system, tune, etc... call it good. Or do the 427 NA route. Don't forget you can sell your old LS1 motor & 10 bolt for a few extra bucks to play with. You might have some money left over at the end.

Well Yea, I will probably go with a New 2009 ZO6. Bolt on's and a mild cam I will be over 500 rwhp. Lightweight car etc. I never had a vette and this will be a memorial unto my fallen father who suffered because of faulty drug manufacturers. This is what I want to do for now. My goal would like to be mid 10's with the car.

Exactly... A lot less than 20k. Forged 347 with H/C/I nitrous would be easy and fun. You can get 10's with some weight loss, drag pack, nitrous, good weather, and a decent cam... Call a local sponsor and tell them you want easy 10's.

Sorry to hear about your father.

please explain, one minute were talking about 20k in mods and now your spending approx 85k on a new vette? wow big diff. before spending all that doe please consult a financial advisor or someone you trust. dont risk your future! first a home, then financial security, then toys. sorry to hear about your dad. i cant imagine losing mine.

Sounds like a good plan, that car should get you into the 10's..... So sorry for your loss, sounds like a tough one, hang in there things will get better.

A lot of people are gonna struggle to make ends meat.
So my advice:Save it. You don't wanna spend 20K on something that you don't NEED unless you're dead positive you won't need credit for the next two years, aren't in debt, etc.
Buy gold, it's gonna skyrocket, especially with inflation on the rise!
Good luck

Yes... Don't spend 20k on the car, just to throw 20k at it... Stretch 10k on it and it will have the potential to be in the 10's then save the rest... IMHO
