Oil pressure and Mobil1 5W30?
So my oil pressure seems low. (see other post) I have not gotten a chance to hook up a mechanical gauge.
Some guys seem to mention that Mobil 1 5W30 is a very thin oil. Especially on a motor with over 100k.
What do you guys think?

it depends what the motor has been through, for example i use 5w30 M1 and i have 88k but my oil pressure is always high. if u are going to step up go to 10w-30 and see how u like that if u still think its to low look for 10w-40. the 10-40 for sure should cure the problem

try 10-40 man for sure that will do it, and do it asap! i would be worried as hell driving like that.
Yeah, do that. 10/40 is better than 5/30 for sure
Thanks for the advice!

Cold start with mobil 1 5w30 was just slightly over 40. While driving around town, at roughly 1500 RPM gauge shows 35-38ish.
Getting the oil changed to 10w40 later today............

Use reguklar oil, 20w50. You'll love it and so will your engine.

Why you use Moble 1 I have no Idea. I bet you use a Fram filter too. Do a bit of looking and you will see that Moble 1 is living off hte rep from long ago. There are alot better oils. It is thin with poor protection for what you pay for.

I'd go 0W-40 or 5W-40 well before I went with a 10W-40. Winter is coming. You don't want a 10W oil in winter. Hell, I don't want a 10W ever. 0W's and 5W's provide lubrication to the motor faster during startup and protect better at cold temperatures.
