Default Problem with spark plug.

I have a 2001 Camaro that I bought a couple months ago. I was doing general maintenance because the car is running like crap, fuel filter, plugs/wires.

I went to change all of my plugs today and did them all pretty easily EXCEPT for the #2 spark plug(first plug towards radiator on passenger side). It seems like the plug is in the head crooked or something because my plug socket will not seat onto the plug. No matter what angle I try from side or top i cannot get the socket onto the plug, taking the rubber out of the socket does not help either.

I am completely stumped. Also I checked if a piece of boot was stuck in there or something but no that does'nt seem to be the problem. Am I going to have to replace the passenger side head?

Any comments would be appreciated thanks.

the spark plug could possiably be warped. Try an adjustable wrench if you can get it in there. Also what sparks are you using?

Bose 4 prong uranium are pretty good for stock motors i noticed a diffrence. Also to get the slugish feeling out run some fuel injector cleaner, mobile 1 extended performance oil/ filter 5-30w of course. But i would also use flush to get any gunk left over in there maybe the previous owner was cheap. Also it could be bad gas as well. Get some 93 from chevron mix it with the fuel injector cleaner and some octane booster. Also change your air filter.

This is all done to my car every 2500 miles/1-2 months depending on where/how i drive.

please!! do not get the 4 tip plugs, man that is like a cage how is the spark going to get into the chamber look for ngk tr55, my advice would be to check with a mirror the plugs condition or try a sligtly larger socket as long as it grabs it a little bit it would come out

I cant use a larger socket because the regular 5/8 plug socket will not grab onto the plug. It wont even go into the hole where the spark plug sits. it seems like the top of the plug is not in the position it should be in so it keeps the socket from getting to it. I'm going to try again today because I had to quit yesterday due to it getting dark out.

Also I'm using ACDelco Iridum plugs. I had Mobile 1 5w30 in it, but I am now using German Castrol 0w30 with a Napa filter.

I hope you are kidding. Please. For the sake of the OPs wallet.
Those are a joke. Spark is only going to pass through one of the four grounds. And the electrode is going to wear out at the same rate. Waste of dough.

You should really use OEM plugs on a stock or close to stock engine. Engineers aren't paid to design specific ignition systems for no reason ya know.

pull the coil packs off, reach in from the front of the car not the side with a short stubby flex head ratchet and you should be able to get right on the plug.

alot of my friends have problems with this plug also, but this is how i get it in seconds when i push them out of the way lol

Spark plug cannot be bent, it's made of pocelain.

I know you said you've already checked, but it sounds like you have some foreign object keeping your socket from slipping over the plug.

Gotta be something stuck in there. Harbor freight/home depot/lowes etc should sell a nice bendaround mirror thing so you can get a good look in there.
